A port town on the north-eastern tip of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, Bitung is separated from the island of Lembehᅠby a slender strait. Renowned for its incredible marine biodiversity, the place is a firm favourite with fans of diving and underwater photography. Further inland, two volcanic sentinels watch over the inhabitants: the Tangkoko and most notably the Klabat: towering 1995 metres high, this is Sulawesi's tallest volcano. Departing from the port of Bitung, sail out to the crystal-clear waters of the Molucca Sea and venture out to the coral reefs of the Raja Ampat archipelago.
