Diu, a small Indian fishing village located at the far east of the island of that name, off the coast of the Kathiawar peninsula, in Gujarat, is known in particular for its Portuguese heritage, such as its fortress and its white churches. An important trading centre in the 14th and 16th centuries, and a Portuguese trading post until 1961, the town has conserved a unique atmosphere. Its beauty and authenticity will make you want to go for a walk or spend a moment relaxing on the beach. The famous Diu Fortress, surrounded by the sea, is well worth a visit.
