Just at the exit of the famous Prins Christian Sund passage, on the south-west coast of Greenland, lies Herjolfsnes, one of the emblematic locations of the Viking conquest of Greenland. It’s here that Herjolf, one of Erik the Red’s companions, established his trading post. This was a strategic location, as all Norwegian longships arriving in Greenland had to come through here. Discover this superb place brimming with history, as well as the vestiges of the church, houses and farms. Tomb excavations conducted in Herjolfsnes revealed that, in the 14th century, the garments worn in Greenland were exactly the same as those worn in the major European capitals!
