Cruises visiting Igoumenitsa
In the Epirus region, Igoumenitsa is a charming little port town bordered by the Ionian Sea, in north-west Greece. Surrounded by mountains, it faces the island of Corfu. The coastal path offers beautiful views over the “Emerald Island.” Not far from the town are several sites that are worthy of interest, such as the Gitani archaeological site, in a magnificent natural setting surrounded by water, and the Holy Monastery of Giromeri in Filiates. Dating from the 14th century, the Monastery perches like an eagle's nest on mountainous slopes wooded with hundred-year-old sycamores, not far from the border with Albania.
