At the far end of “African” Sicily, 100 kilometres west of Palermo, San Vito Lo Capo stretches, as its name suggests, to the far end of cap San Vito. The heady Moorish fragrances wafting from the houses with their whitewashed walls bordering tiny narrow streets will make you swoon. The Norman cathedral, imposing and proud, is an ancient Sarasin fortress overlooking the town. But, San Vito Lo Capo’s reputation is owed above all to the beauty of its bay, to the purity of its turquoise waters and white sandy beaches.
