The little town of Senj has an astonishing natural setting. Set against the Velebit mountain range, it also borders with Kvarner bay. A walk in its fishing harbour and Tamarind-planted esplanades is a real pleasure. On one of the esplanades, you’ll see a sun dial mounted on a pedestal. This atypical monument indicates latitude as well as the time. The panorama of the steep coastline includes Fort Nehaj, standing on a lush promontory. It has guarded the coast ever since the 16th century, and its military history museum presents details of a turbulent past.
