Lynette Nusbacher

Dr. Lynette Nusbacher has spent three decades explaining how wars are actually fought: as an intelligence officer in the British and Canadian armies; inside the UK's national security establishment; and for the past 25 years as a broadcaster who has brought military history to millions, presenting documentary series on the Second World War and beyond on the BBC, Britain’s Channel 4, and the Smithsonian Channel. Her lectures pair a historian's rigor (she earned her doctorate in modern history at Oxford) with a practitioner's eye earned on operations and advising NATO on strategic risk. Off screen, Lynette is a competitive fencer who teaches historical swordsmanship, an interest that grew out of the same fascination with how people actually fight that has shaped her career. She brings decisions and operations vividly to life against the backdrop of Normandy and other European battle sites.
