This is where nature has shaped its most majestic masterpieces… Majestic fjords bordered by monumental cliffs cutting into the coastline of the North Sea, legendary lands featuring fascinating fauna, vertiginous waterfalls tumbling from immense rock walls. Norway will open its doors to you for a unique 8-day journey from Oslo to Bergen, through these ancestral lands, home to myths, conquest and geological wonders.
The Norwegian capital grows distant. Its ochre brick buildings disappear, giving way to the spellbinding setting of Oslfjorden, featuring lush green islands scattered with hundred-year-old oaks, herbaceous shorelines and red wooden houses.
After a port of call in the charming historic Swedish city of Göteborg, you will set sail again for the historic and wild southern tip of Norway. In Arendal, once known as the Venice of the North because of its many canals, you may take the time to contemplate this intact and preserved immense space, composed of conifer forests and long pebble beaches ; these bear testimony to the retreat of a huge glacier, around 12,000 years ago, which left an enormous amount of rock behind. Then, in Sandnes, plunge into the fantastic universe of the legendary and emblematic Vikings, who were explorers and traders but also pirates. Here, an immersion into the Iron Age awaits; you will discover the ancestral traditions of these larger-than-life characters as you visit a reconstructed traditional village or emblematic sites.
The fjords region, the highlight of your odyssey, is approaching. Beneath a misty sky, you will see the imposing dark rock walls of these natural wonders, whose calm waters were explored by Viking drakkars almost ten centuries ago. These geological treasures will immerse you in a universe that is as inhospitable as it is captivating. Olden and its closeness to the Jostedalsbreen National Park, which is home to the Briksdal Glacier, one of the last ice caps in Europe; Geiranger and its legendary fjord, the only one to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Hellesylt and its impressive cliffs with their vertiginous waterfalls: these all offer a unique, stunning and unforgettable experience.
During a final port of call, you will be able to visit Alesund. Fall in love with the Art Nouveau architecture of this historic city, which is surrounded by a ring of rocky islets, enchanting fjord inlets and majestic mountains. It lies anchored opposite Giske, the home island of Rollo, the great Viking chieftain renowned for his many Nordic expeditions to Normandy.
As a grand finale, this enchanting interlude will come to an end in Bergen, founded by the Vikings almost a thousand years ago and famous for its seven mountains overlooking the city centre and its Hanseatic wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Capital of Norway, Olso, is a green city. Its many parks and gardens make it the reputedly pleasant city it is. The 80 hectares of Vigeland sculpture parks and its 212 open air exhibitions, the Munch Museum dedicated to the life and works of the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, plus the Akershus fortress which symbolises Oslo’s rich history, are both must-sees. For culture, the national gallery shelters the largest Norwegian collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures open to the public. And, for sports enthusiasts, the Holmenkollen district with its Ski museum and famous ski jump offer the most stunning, all-encompassing view of the city.

Nestling on the western coast of Sweden, at the junction of the Göta River and the Kattegat sea area, Gothenburg enchants and surprises. Going beyond its commercial influence, “the cultural capital of Scandinavia” is a perfect blend of historic monuments, neo-classical architecture and eco-districts featuring modern urban spaces. A port city located on Norway’s southern coast, Arendal is considered as the municipality enjoying the best climate in the country. This town in the Sorlandet region has also long been renowned for its iron ore mines: their operation in the 19th century produced a particularly resistant magnetite ore. The Raet National Park, the only protected area on the eastern coast of Norway, is not far away; here, you will fall in love with its raw nature, with silver and emerald reflections, dotted with immense coniferous forests and long pebble beaches.

With its two wooden churches, one red and the other white, plus its breathtaking view of the mouth of the river Oldeelva, Olden looks just like a picture post card. Located a few kilometres from the Jostedalsbreen park, home to one of the last glacier polar icecaps, this little village is a definite must for exploring the blue languages of the Briksdal or Kjennalen glaciers. Make sure you find some time to visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Absolutely amazing. Another gem is lake Lovatn and its turquoise waters inviting you to quiet contemplation.

A must-see stopover in Norway, located halfway between Bergen and Trondheim, Geiranger offers the stunning beauty of a natural decor, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hellesylt is a small village located 20 kilometres from the Geiranger site. Here, you’ll get a taste of a traditional Norwegian village. Colourful houses, wooden walkways, rustic stalls where you can have a refreshment before heading off to discover more of the local colour. The surroundings are simply magnificent with cliffs, mountains and lakes with peaceful waters. The village is crossed by a river whose charming cascade tumbles into the fjord waters.

Surrounded by a multitude of islands, fjords and majestic mountains, the town of Ålesund surprises many visitors. In fact, it is internationally renowned for its Art nouveau architecture. After the terrible fire of 1904 which reduced a large part of the town to ashes, Norwegian architects inspired by the Art nouveau style contributed to its reconstruction, with a very picturesque result. Not far from Ålesund, you will also discover Giske, the native island of Rollon, the great Viking leader who commanded the Norse expeditions to Normandy, or the beautiful island of Godoy and the village of Alnes, which offers a grandiose panorama over the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding islands.

Located at the end of Byfjord, Bergen was the capital of Norway in the 12th and 13th Centuries and has preserved some very beautiful monuments from the time when it was home to royalty. Wandering through Bergen’s streets means going back in time, in search of the hidden treasures that have been listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. A veritable openair museum, Bergen is home to a thriving artistic community of painters, potters, jewellers. The Bergen cable car offers you a splendid panorama over the port and the surrounding fjords. Do not miss the visit to the old quarter with its narrow streets, a testimony of the power of the hanseatic League that controlled trade in Northern Europe at the end of the Middle Ages.
Gothenburg city tour
During this tour, you will discover Gothenburg's charms and history.
First, travel to the view point Klippan which offers a splendid view of the Archipelago and Älvsborg Bridge, then to Masthuggs Church for a spectacular view of the city and port.
Continue to the Botanical Gardens for a short visit in the beautifully arranged park setting. You will get the chance to witness the rock garden and the rhododendron valley.
Then proceed into the city centre and Götaplatsen, its cultural hub, flanked by the Museum of Fine Arts, the Concert Hall, the Municipal Theatre and the Library. This square is dominated by Carl Milles' imposing sculpture of the Poseidon Fountain.
Drive along Avenyn, Gothenburg's loveliest and busiest street, to Gustav Adolfs Torg, named after the city's founder, lined by the City Hall, the Court House and the Stock Exchange.
You will then drive back to your ship.

From the pier, start your tour with a drive up to the Masthuggs Church, where you have a magnificent view of Gothenburg and the port.
In the heart of the city, you will pass Götaplatsen, with the famous Poseidon Fountain by Carl Milles. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Concert Hall and the Municipal Theatre are also located at Götaplatsen.
Drive along Avenyn, the main street and the Grand Boulevard of Gothenburg, with a great number of nice restaurants, bars and shops. At Gustav Adolf's Square, you will see the City Hall, the Court House and the Stock Exchange.
At Kungsbroplatsen, you will leave your coach and board the sightseeing boat, Paddan (“the Toad”), for a sight so typical for Gothenburg. The classic city tour on the Paddan boats shows off the beauty of Gothenburg from a waterside perspective. You will step aboard in the centre of the city and see the old moat and the canals that date from the 17th century, while learning about the history of the city's construction and defence. You will continue beneath the many low bridges, including the extremely low Osthyveln (“cheese slicer”) bridge, which brings you out into the fascinating harbour where the sights include traditional shipyards, the fishing harbour, new and old housing, expanding commercial and academic sites, and the maritime museum.

From the pier, meet your guide and reach the RIB boat. After a brief information and putting on the safety gear, take a seat in the RIB boat and start your adventure.
The tour begins with a ride though the harbour where you will see and hear about the harbour sceneries and activities. At Alvsborg Fortress, accelerate speed and navigate to one of the seal colonies in the area close to Vinga lighthouse. The seal colony consists of 20 to 40 animals. Seals hunt and are active in the dark hours so you will most probably be seeing them resting on the rocks during the daytime.
After the visit to the seals colony, turn south of Branno and Kanso with nice views of the picturesque archipelago. Pass Langedrag, the sailing metropol on the return ride to the pier.

On this excursion, you will discover the Swedish West Coast, now one of Sweden's most popular vacation areas, with its many charming little coastal villages.
You will meet your guide on the quay and leave Gothenburg for a short trip North.
You will pass through the historic little town of Kungälv, with its impressive ruins, including Bohus Fortress, which dates back to the 14th century. You will continue through the town of Stenungsund, which, along with the islands Tjörn and Orust, are collectively called the "Best Coast". Those two large islands surrounded by many smaller islands, to the west of a forested mainland create an incomparable natural combination!
The islands are connected through impressive bridges, the longest being the Tjörn Bridge, which streches across the Askerö Fjord. Here, a photo stop will be made.
Then, you will drive across the bridge and continue through the magnificent Tjörn landscape towards the old fishing village of Klädesholmen, where, in the 19th century, the foundations for a fish processing industry were formed. After a guided walk of this charming fishing village, you will continue on to the main village of Skärhamn, a vibrant and important shipping center, where, as they say that "the sea lies just outside the window". In this small village of Skärhamn, the shipping industry employs over 2,000 people. Enjoy some free time to stroll around the village, or discover the Nordic Watercolor Museum.
After exploring the west coast, you will return to your ship in Gothenburg.

From the pier, board your coach for the 30-minute drive via the main road to idyllic Nesgrenda, where Naes Ironworks Museum is situated.
The museum is almost completely intact and very well preserved, consisting of buildings, machinery and equipment which date back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
After a guided walk through the museum and a stop for refreshments, reboard your coach for a drive to Tvedestrand centre. Enjoy a guided walk through the picturesque little village and perhaps take a picture of Norway’s most narrow house!
After the visit, enjoy some time at leisure before re-boarding your coach.
The drive back to Arendal will follow the North Sea Route scenic road, with fantastic views of the coastline and the ocean.

From the pier, board your coach for the 20-minute drive to Hove.
On the southern part of the island of Tromøy, only a short ride from Arendal, there is a beautiful nature area called Hove. This recreational area is part of a protected moraine that lies along the southern coast and the whole area has been adapted for walks with rest areas along the shore. There are numerous paths which stretch from Hove to Alve, along Spornes beach, consisting of boulders and rocks and sand, when the sea permits.
Join your guide for a wonderful hike along the shores. The trip from Hove camping along the coast and back on the countryside is 6 km (3.75 miles). Spornes beach is situated on the south side of Tromøy, close to Hove and you will pass by it on your walk.
Arriving at the end of the trail, board your coach again for a scenic drive back to Arendal and your ship.

From the pier, board your local coach and heads on to Tromøya, one of the largest islands in southern Norway. The scenic drive takes you to the rolling rock Spornes beaches, part of the Raet ice age moraine. Continue your exploration and pass Tromoya Church, built in the 12th century and typical of many churches that were raised in the Middle Ages.
Then, head to Kuben, for a self-guided visit of the Cultural History Museum, part of the Aust-Agder museum and archive, and is located in the country's most modern museum and archive building. Kuben is a cultural history institution and here you will find exhibitions focusing on the history of Arendal and Aust-Agder. You will have the opportunity to visit all the other exhibitions like "Childhood", focusing on childhood history of Norway spanning three decades; the '60s, '70s and '80s. The exhibition, "Enslaved", reflects the horrific side of Norwegian history, and how the country was involved in the slave trade in the 1700s and 1800s.
Before getting back to the pier, try out the traditional "Munker" pastry and other local refreshments in the museum cafeteria or browse the museum shop for artisan quality gifts and mementos.
Finally, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view from top of the City Glass Elevator and descend to street level to walk back to the pier or travel back by coach.

This excursion is the opportunity to immerse yourself in spellbinding countryside and stretch your legs on this active experience in Norway’s great outdoors.
From the pier, board your local coach and relax on the scenic journey to Rogaland County.
Upon arrival, lace up your walking boots and set off for an enchanting hike. Your reward for climbing the mountainside trail is a spectacular view over Manafossen, also known as the Moon Waterfall. Watch in awe as the rushing waters leap out from the rocks and thunder over 300 feet into the river below. On a sunny day, the moisture in the air might create a rainbow for the perfect photo opportunity.

Children and pregnant women are not permitted to participate. We recommend you wear good hiking shoes and a windproof jacket. We also recommend you bring water from the ship.

Sandnes and the surrounding areas have for centuries played a leading part in Norway's maritime history, from the time when the Viking kings battled in Hafrsfjord, through the period of the "white sails" and the steamships up to modern super-tankers. Today you will explore the area's part of the Viking era.
From the pier, board your local coach and start your scenic drive. Approaching Hafrsfjord, learn about how the viking king Harald Haarfagre (the Fair-haired) in 872 defeated the last of the regional princes and united the 29 small kingdoms under one crown, thus founding the Kingdom of Norway. A stop will be made nearby the monument Swords in Rock which commemorates this battle.
Then continue to Stavanger, where you will enjoy a guided walk through "Old Stavanger" with picturesque, well preserved wooden houses in narrow lanes before arriving at your last stop, the Museum of Archaeology.
Here, discover the Viking Voyagers exhibition. This interesting exhibition uses sound and visual effects to bring the brutal yet fascinating Viking Age to life. A central part of the exhibition are the new Viking Age burials, recently found in Rogaland, containing keen-edged swords, golden buckles and brightly colored glass beads. There are also displays of the treasures stolen during their oversea raids such as Gilded, decorated Irish book clasps, brooches, beads of jet, silver treasure troves including Arabic coins.

From the pier in Sandnes, board your local coach and start your journey to Stavanger.
On the way, you will stop briefly at the Sword-in-Stone monument that commemorates the victory in 872 of Viking king Harald Haarfagre (the fair-haired) over the last of the regional princes, thus uniting 29 small kingdoms under one crown and establishing the Kingdom of Norway. Visit the nearby village of Ullandhaug, where farmhouses have been reconstructed to show what life was like during the Iron Age. Then, rejoin the coach and continue to Stavanger.
Stavanger is among the most important cities in Norway. Despite its age, dating back at least to the Viking Age, Stavanger only grew to its position among the most important Norwegian cities in the second half of the 20th century, after oil was discovered in the North Sea.
Upon arrival, you have to possibility to explore the Old Stavanger on foot. You will see well-preserved wooden houses surrounded by tiny, colourful gardens, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. They were mostly built for seafaring people, craftsmen and trading people.
Then, visit the modern Petroleum Museum. This striking building is situated in the middle of the harbor. It displays many exhibits from Norway’s relatively new petroleum history.
At the end of the tour, return to the ship in Sandnes.

Norway has a long tradition of cross-country skiing. This activity has been adapted to the walk you will discover today. Nordic walking is a total body version of walking but is different from hiking - the poles are not used vertically in front of the body but are pointed backwards, as in cross-country skiing. The technique is easy to learn, permitting to enjoy a true nature experience.
After a short transfer, begin your tour with a short walk through an industrial and residential area before you reach the shores of the Gandsfjord and a 19-mile-long (30 km) trail reaching all the way to the city of Stavanger. The trail runs in open countryside right beside the fjord and offers a fantastic view over the Gandsfjord and the mountains beyond. There are several lovely beaches along the way, and you will pass large rocky headlands protruding into the fjord.

Briksdal glacier is a part of the Jostedal glacier ice field, which is the largest glacier on the European mainland. The wild glacier is a fantastic work of Nature. Its slope plunges from a height of 3,937 feet (1,200 m) down to the lush, narrow Briksdal Valley. Briksdalsbreen Glacier lies at the end of enchanting Oldedalen valley.
Board your motor coach and start the tour. The trip through Oldedalen valley to Briksdal glacier is an amazing symphony of scenic splendours. From wild flowers to awe-inspiring mountains that are reflected in crystal clear lake waters, to great waterfalls that cascade from vertical mountainsides.
Your motor coach will stop at the mountain lodge, and from the lodge it is about 1.8 mile (3 km), a 45-minute walk on a gravel road up to the glacier. During your walk, enjoy the view onto the gigantic glacier.
If you don't want to walk that far, another option is to be driven by cars (7 seats in each) from the lodge, up to a parking lot which is a 10-minute walk from the glacier. Please note that you pay directly on the site for the transfer by vehicle. We will not be able to pre-book this service and unfortunately during the high season, vehicles are not always running.
Using the same way to get back to the lodge, you will have some more opportunities to take pictures walking down the path. At the lodge, enjoy a snack including tea, coffee and pastries, and some time at leisure in the well-stocked souvenir shop which will make your trip to Briksdal memorable.

The fantastic Nordfjord was created by glaciers, dominated by vikings and now, paddled by you.
Kayaking on a green fjord, in a quiet valley surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls and blue glaciers, is a memorable experience.
You will start your journey from the old Mølla guest house 5 minutes away by foot from the pier in Olden. Once at the kayak station, you will receive all equipment (kayak, paddle, spray-skirt, safety equipment) and a safety briefing to learn the dos and don’ts of kayaking.
You will be ready to start your tour from the pier, heading out into the fjord. As you follow the contours of the shore, your guide will share their local knowledge about the fjords and glaciers surrounding you. In the distance you will see waterfalls, glaciers and green mountainsides.
After approximately 2 hours of kayak, you will get back to the pier.
- Double kayaks are used. This tour may be cancelled in the case of poor weather conditions. You might get wet, so please bring a change of clothing and footwear with you. Although this tour does not require kayaking experience, participants must be good swimmers and have no fear of water. The fjord water may be very cold.

From the pier, drive to Stryn Lake. What makes Lovatnet so beautiful is the green color that comes from the melt water from the glaciers that lies on the mountain peaks around. The lake has an area of 10.4 square kilometers, and is 52 meters above sea level. Lovatnet has multiple streams from the Jostedals glacier and drains at Loelva to the fjord.
After a photostop, continue to Loen. Leaving the buses, board the new cable car (inaugurated 2017) taking you up to mount Hoven, 1011 metres above the sea – around 200 metres above the tree line in this part of Norway.
Enjoy a coffee-break and spectacular views of the fjord and villages below as well as the surrounding mountain scenery. During your stay at Hoven, you have the possibility to enjoy a short walk to soak up the scenery around you.
After some time at leisure, return by cable car to Loen where your bus will be waiting for you to bring you back to the pier in Olden.

From the pier, leave Geiranger by coach on a journey of discovery through the countryside in the west of Norway, a land majestic mountains and emerald green lakes. For more than 100 years the Geirangerfjord considered by many the world's most beautiful has been visited by cruise ships.
You will head for Mount Dalsnibba, climbing up through a beautiful landscape of mountains, waterfalls and lakes that follow one after the other, before arriving at Lake Djupvaten. A fantastic spectacle awaits as you enter a world of naked rock, ice and snow. Your route continues on up Mount Dalsnibba to a height of 4,930 feet (1,495 m) from where you will have an exceptional view (weather permitting). At this altitude, all the snow-capped peaks cast light on a scene that appears inaccessible.
You will then take a break for lunch in local restaurant. After lunch, you will head to the summer ski resort of Tystigen to capture the stunning panorama. Drive along the shores of Lake Stryn, the emerald-green colour of which is so typical of the area, due to the melting Jostedalen glacier that you will see further on. You will continue your route along the River Stryn, an excellent spot for salmon fishing, to Nordfjord and the village of Stryn, where you will be at leisure to stretch your legs and stroll around the streets. You last stop will be Hornindalsvatnet, one of the deepest lakes in Europe at 1,695 feet (514 m) deep.

From the pier, board your motor coach and go admire the beautiful scenery over your ship, all the way to Mount Dalsnibba.
As you reach the Djupvaten Lake at 3,280 feet (1,000 m) high, the landscape changes. From many vantage points you can see snow-covered mountains even in summer, glaciers and lakes.
Then you will proceed to mount Dalsnibba, 4,843 feet (1,495 m). From the top of the mount, enjoy a bird's-eye view of the scenery. Usually, the wind at the summit blows strongly. Mount Dalsnibba is located above the town of Geiranger, 4.5 miles (7 km) away from Geirangerfjord. It offers very good look-out opportunities.
On your way back, a stop is planned at Djupvasshytta Lodge. Here, you can stroll around the lake before enjoying a cup of tea and Norwegian pastries served at the Lodge.
You will also stop at Flydal, which offers once again a beautiful look-out point over your ship.
When your ship departs for her next port of call, do not hesitate to have a last look up, to Mount Dalsnibba.
- For this excursion, we recommend you to wear comfortable shoes. The order of the visits may change. During Spring season, the tollroad to Mount Dalsnibba may not yet be open due to snow. If the road is not open, a stop at Eagle's Bends viewpoint will be made instead.

From the pier, depart by minibus to the kayak base. A guide will meet at the landing stage holding a kayak sign. Then walk approximately 5 minutes to the kayak base, where the kayaks are waiting for you, before receiving safety briefing and paddling instructions.
Since Geiranger is at the end of a long fjord, it means that you will head out of the fjord. You will glide along the steep mountain walls to the Geiranger fjord where the “Preacher’s Pulpit” can be seen. Along the way, your guide will tell you stories about Geiranger and its people.
After approximately 1¾ hours in the kayak, you will return to the base and walk the few meters back to your minibus and then your ship.
There is no experience required; your well-trained guides will teach you all you need to know. This is the perfect adventure for all, families included.
Life jackets are compulsory and will of course be provided for all participants.

This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB boat (a rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy).
Your guide will give you winter equipment, both water and wind proof. Following a short introduction and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of Geirangerfjord.
While the RIB boat increases its speed, you will feel the sensation of freedom and excitement as the wind blows in your face. But the boat ride is not only about the speed. The driver will slow down below the small mountain farms along the fjord and give a short explanation. You will also see both the Seven Sisters Waterfalls and the Bridal Vail Waterfall at really close range which is an experience you will not easily forget.
After your 45-minutes trip, you will get back to the pier and walk back to your ship.
- Participants must wear flat sneaker shoes. Both water- and wind-proof winter equipment and eye-glasses will be provided. During winter season, participants must also wear warm-thermal clothes. This tour can be cancelled on short notice by the RIB guide if the weather turns bad, but generally the tour can operate in all weather conditions expect for heavy rain and fog. This tour is not suitable for passengers with back problems or with limited physical abilities. This is a high activity tour that at times can be strenuous and the RIB boat can reach high speeds. Landscapes can still be snow-covered during the early season. This tour is limited to 12 participants.

From the pier, meet your local guide and head to the nature park on foot. Enjoy the hike along the waterfall path.
Upon arrival, after a short safety briefing and putting on your zipline equipment, start your adventure in front of the splendid UNESCO World Heritage panorama of the Geirangerfjord. From treetop to treetop, over gorges and waterfalls, you whiz down the four secured ziplines. That is the most amazing way to discover this nature beauty.
Then, get back to the ship on your own.

This tour involves walking approximately 1,5 km each way, on uneven ground, uphill and downhill and 200 steps. It involves also approximately 45 minutes of ziplining. One of the ziplines can also be used by two people. For this activity participants must have a minimum weight of 30 kg and a minimum height of 110 cm. We recommend you wear comfortable sport clothing and shoes, and protect yourself from the sun and insects. This is not a guided tour. The nature park staff only speak English. A waiver will be requested in order to participate.

From the pier, you will start the tour with a short panoramic city tour through the Art Nouveau district of Alesund. The city's architectural character is in fact the result of a catastrophe - the great fire in 1904 and those young architects who participated in the rebuilding of the city were inspired by the Art Nouveau style.
Then you will drive up to Mount Aksla from where you have a beautiful view of the city, the islands and the Sunnmore Mountains.
Leaving the city you will drive through some of the world's largest undersea tunnels connecting the islands with the mainland. Today the approximately 6,300 inhabitants have a 'ferry-free connection' with the rest of Norway. To reach the islands you must traverse bridges and undersea tunnels, the longest being 2.5 miles. Reach Giske Island, which had a unique position during the Viking period.
The famous Gange - Rolv, or Rollo, was born on Giske. This great warrior conquered Normandie in 911 and became the ancestor of William the Conqueror, sire to the English Royal Family. The old marble church at Giske was built as a family chapel for one of most powerful families. The church is built in the Norman style and is a typical product of the architecture prior to 1200. In 1756 the church was restored. The local artist Jacob S. Giskegaard created the new interior including a new pulpit, and a new alter piece.
Continue your visit proceeding to Godoy Island and Alnes village located on the seaside. You will see a typical fishing village with a well-preserved and picturesque architecture. Its main attraction is its lighthouse. You will get the opportunity to climb up its stairs (87 steps) to enjoy a beautiful look-out to the Atlantic Ocean and the surroundings islands.
After this visit, you will return to your ship.

Ålesund, the largest town on the northwest coast of Norway, has a spectacular setting: stretching over three islands, near the ocean and backdropped by impressive mountain-peaks. The town centre was destroyed by a fire in 1904, but rebuilt shortly after in the characteristic Art Nouveau architectural style of the period. Today Ålesund has a population of approximately 40,000, but the town centre is relatively small and easy to cover on foot.
From the pier, you will start on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau museum, located in the old pharmacy building. The museum provides interesting insight into the fire of 1904 and the creative Art Nouveau period.
After your visit, you will continue your walking tour. Your guide will put particular emphasis on presenting the importance of fisheries in Norway's biggest fish export harbour and, of course, you will be shown a multitude of examples of the picturesque Art Nouveau style that has made Ålesund famous.
The tour will continue uphill to the quaint little park at the foot of mount Aksla. Here, you will find exotic trees and plants as well as a memorial stone dedicated to the German emperor Wilhelm II, for whom the main street in town is named after. Furthermore, you will see the statue of the Viking "Gange-Rolf" who sailed from Ålesund to what is today Normandy (France), named after the Norwegian settlers. From the park, you could choose to continue to ascend mount Aksla, where your will be rewarded for your efforts with a spectacular view. Or you could wander about in the park or just sit and have a rest before the return to the pier and your ship.

E-biking is just like traditional cycling, but with less pedaling thanks to the bike’s electric motor. After a full briefing, your guide will lead the way as you cruise into the streets. Glide around the heart of colorful Alesund, which is renowned for its unique Art Nouveau style. From the pier, board your local coach for a short scenic drive, through Alesund, the base of Sugarlump Mountain, located on the Island of Hessa.
Upon arrival, meet your experienced guide and begin a one-hour hike that starts at 164 feet above sea level and climbs to an elevation of 1,000 feet along a narrow hiking trail. The round trip is approximately 2.5 miles over varied terrain. As you trek, you’ll learn more about the indigenous flora and fauna and take in the panoramic views of the city of Alesund, Borgundfjord, and the Sunnmore Mountains.
At the conclusion of your hike, reboard your coach and relax on the return to port.

Day 1 - Bergen

Day 2 – Bergen/Flåm/Voss
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bergen train station.
The scenic train journey will take you through typical west Norwegian scenery along the narrow Sørfjord to the industrial centre of Dale and upwards to the Bolstadfjord and Voss River well known for its Salmon. You will reach the beautiful Vangs Lake at Voss and further through the picturesque Raundal Valley, after passing through the Graqvhalstunnel, you will arrive at Myrdal situated on a ridge above the Flåm valley. There, you will change train for the famous Flåm railway.
The Flåm railroad is one of the most interesting pieces of engineering in Norway. Only 20 kilometres long, it runs from Flåm station at sea level with an altitude of 867 metres to Myrdal. Enjoy the unique and impressive views up the steep valley between towering mountains and of the Kjosfossen waterfall where the water cascades between dark cliffs and the splendid panorama view that unfolds before your eyes.
Flåm is 2 metres above sea level, situated in the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord and is 90 sea miles away from the North Sea. You will have some leisure time in this quiet village before lunch in a local restaurant.
After having lunch, the excursion continues by coach.
You will stop at the beautiful Tvindefoss waterfall, and at Gudvangen at the head of the Næroyfjord listed by UNESCO as the most beautiful fjord in the world, before reaching the district of Voss. The village is one of West Norway's finest agricultural areas and is well known tourist resort and a traffic junction between the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord.

Day 3 – Voss/Oslo
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
You will depart the hotel in the morning by coach for a second day of exploration.
You will make your way through Norway’s sheer nature beauty to the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory, located in the innermost part of the Hardanger Fjord at the fruit farm Lekve in Ulvik. Here you will get a guided tour of everything the farm can offer. Here they make apple juice and cider which plays an important role in the production of the farm since 2004, and the farm has since 2009 also started apple brandy production. Hardanger Cider, the fairy-tale drink, is also on the menu and is still being made according to old recipe, just with modern tools. You will get a chance to taste the products as part of your visit to the factory.
After this visit, you will be taken to Voss train station. You will begin your marvelous Oslo Railway journey to Oslo, often described as the most beautiful train ride in the world. You will ascend to over 4,000 feet above sea level as you cross the Hardangervidda plateau, featuring breath-taking views.
Upon your arrival to Oslo, you will walk a few steps to the Amerikalinjen hotel spend the overnight.

Day 4 – Oslo
Breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure, followed by check-out.
At the head of the approximately 100 kilometres long Oslofjord lays the capital of Norway, cradled between forest-clad hills with several islands spread out in the fjord in front. Many of these have summerhouses built on them, others belong to the community where it is free to go swimming and sunbathing. Incidentally, Oslo is the sunniest among the Scandinavian capitals statistically!
King Harald the Hardruler founded Oslo 1050 A.D. In the year 1624 the town was destroyed by fire and the Danish/Norwegian king at the time, Christian IV, decided to rebuild the city under the walls of the fortress of Akershus dating back to 1299. He named the new town “Christiania”, a name that was used right up to the year 1925 when it was decided to take back the original name “Oslo” which means the estuary of the river Lo.
Start your Oslo journey with a lunch in a local restaurant, perfectly located in Norway capital city.
After lunch, your guide will lead you by foot through the past historical buildings as the City Hall with its two impressive towers, which stood ready for the city’s 900 years’ jubilee in 1950. Norway's most distinguished artists contributed to the decorations of this modern landmark.
You will also discover the National Theatre with the statues of the writers Henrik Ibsen and Bjørnson in front. Then, you will pass the Royal palace that Karl Johan built and head up the main street “Karl Johan” named after King Karl Johan Bernadotte, the king of Sweden/Norway in the first half of the 19th century. At the far end the original University buildings from 1913 and Parliament “Stortinget”.
Finally, you will walk to Oslo’s newest building completed in 2008 – the Opera House.
You will experience the award-winning modern architecture and take a walk on the harbour.

The family name of the owners, Grieg, might ring a bell in your mind. They are relatives to the very famous Edvard Grieg, composer and pianist who was born and died in Bergen, in 1907. During this tour, you will discover Gothenburg's charms and history.
First, travel to the view point Klippan which offers a splendid view of the Archipelago and Älvsborg Bridge, then to Masthuggs Church for a spectacular view of the city and port.
Continue to the Botanical Gardens for a short visit in the beautifully arranged park setting. You will get the chance to witness the rock garden and the rhododendron valley.
Then proceed into the city centre and Götaplatsen, its cultural hub, flanked by the Museum of Fine Arts, the Concert Hall, the Municipal Theatre and the Library. This square is dominated by Carl Milles' imposing sculpture of the Poseidon Fountain.
Drive along Avenyn, Gothenburg's loveliest and busiest street, to Gustav Adolfs Torg, named after the city's founder, lined by the City Hall, the Court House and the Stock Exchange.

From the pier, start your tour with a drive up to the Masthuggs Church, where you have a magnificent view of Gothenburg and the port.
In the heart of the city, you will pass Götaplatsen, with the famous Poseidon Fountain by Carl Milles. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Concert Hall and the Municipal Theatre are also located at Götaplatsen.
Drive along Avenyn, the main street and the Grand Boulevard of Gothenburg, with a great number of nice restaurants, bars and shops. At Gustav Adolf's Square, you will see the City Hall, the Court House and the Stock Exchange.
At Kungsbroplatsen, you will leave your coach and board the sightseeing boat, Paddan (“the Toad”), for a sight so typical for Gothenburg. The classic city tour on the Paddan boats shows off the beauty of Gothenburg from a waterside perspective. You will step aboard in the centre of the city and see the old moat and the canals that date from the 17th century, while learning about the history of the city's construction and defence. You will continue beneath the many low bridges, including the extremely low Osthyveln (“cheese slicer”) bridge, which brings you out into the fascinating harbour where the sights include traditional shipyards, the fishing harbour, new and old housing, expanding commercial and academic sites, and the maritime museum.

From the pier, meet your guide and reach the RIB boat. After a brief information and putting on the safety gear, take a seat in the RIB boat and start your adventure.
The tour begins with a ride though the harbour where you will see and hear about the harbour sceneries and activities. At Alvsborg Fortress, accelerate speed and navigate to one of the seal colonies in the area close to Vinga lighthouse. The seal colony consists of 20 to 40 animals. Seals hunt and are active in the dark hours so you will most probably be seeing them resting on the rocks during the daytime.
After the visit to the seals colony, turn south of Branno and Kanso with nice views of the picturesque archipelago. Pass Langedrag, the sailing metropol on the return ride to the pier.

On this excursion, you will discover the Swedish West Coast, now one of Sweden's most popular vacation areas, with its many charming little coastal villages.
You will meet your guide on the quay and leave Gothenburg for a short trip North.
You will pass through the historic little town of Kungälv, with its impressive ruins, including Bohus Fortress, which dates back to the 14th century. You will continue through the town of Stenungsund, which, along with the islands Tjörn and Orust, are collectively called the "Best Coast". Those two large islands surrounded by many smaller islands, to the west of a forested mainland create an incomparable natural combination!
The islands are connected through impressive bridges, the longest being the Tjörn Bridge, which streches across the Askerö Fjord. Here, a photo stop will be made.
Then, you will drive across the bridge and continue through the magnificent Tjörn landscape towards the old fishing village of Klädesholmen, where, in the 19th century, the foundations for a fish processing industry were formed. After a guided walk of this charming fishing village, you will continue on to the main village of Skärhamn, a vibrant and important shipping center, where, as they say that "the sea lies just outside the window". In this small village of Skärhamn, the shipping industry employs over 2,000 people. Enjoy some free time to stroll around the village, or discover the Nordic Watercolor Museum.
After exploring the west coast, you will return to your ship in Gothenburg.

From the pier, board your coach for the 30-minute drive via the main road to idyllic Nesgrenda, where Naes Ironworks Museum is situated.
The museum is almost completely intact and very well preserved, consisting of buildings, machinery and equipment which date back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
After a guided walk through the museum and a stop for refreshments, reboard your coach for a drive to Tvedestrand centre. Enjoy a guided walk through the picturesque little village and perhaps take a picture of Norway’s most narrow house!
After the visit, enjoy some time at leisure before re-boarding your coach.
The drive back to Arendal will follow the North Sea Route scenic road, with fantastic views of the coastline and the ocean.

From the pier, board your coach for the 20-minute drive to Hove.
On the southern part of the island of Tromøy, only a short ride from Arendal, there is a beautiful nature area called Hove. This recreational area is part of a protected moraine that lies along the southern coast and the whole area has been adapted for walks with rest areas along the shore. There are numerous paths which stretch from Hove to Alve, along Spornes beach, consisting of boulders and rocks and sand, when the sea permits.
Join your guide for a wonderful hike along the shores. The trip from Hove camping along the coast and back on the countryside is 6 km (3.75 miles). Spornes beach is situated on the south side of Tromøy, close to Hove and you will pass by it on your walk.
Arriving at the end of the trail, board your coach again for a scenic drive back to Arendal and your ship.

From the pier, board your local coach and heads on to Tromøya, one of the largest islands in southern Norway. The scenic drive takes you to the rolling rock Spornes beaches, part of the Raet ice age moraine. Continue your exploration and pass Tromoya Church, built in the 12th century and typical of many churches that were raised in the Middle Ages.
Then, head to Kuben, for a self-guided visit of the Cultural History Museum, part of the Aust-Agder museum and archive, and is located in the country's most modern museum and archive building. Kuben is a cultural history institution and here you will find exhibitions focusing on the history of Arendal and Aust-Agder. You will have the opportunity to visit all the other exhibitions like "Childhood", focusing on childhood history of Norway spanning three decades; the '60s, '70s and '80s. The exhibition, "Enslaved", reflects the horrific side of Norwegian history, and how the country was involved in the slave trade in the 1700s and 1800s.
Before getting back to the pier, try out the traditional "Munker" pastry and other local refreshments in the museum cafeteria or browse the museum shop for artisan quality gifts and mementos.
Finally, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view from top of the City Glass Elevator and descend to street level to walk back to the pier or travel back by coach.

This excursion is the opportunity to immerse yourself in spellbinding countryside and stretch your legs on this active experience in Norway’s great outdoors.
From the pier, board your local coach and relax on the scenic journey to Rogaland County.
Upon arrival, lace up your walking boots and set off for an enchanting hike. Your reward for climbing the mountainside trail is a spectacular view over Manafossen, also known as the Moon Waterfall. Watch in awe as the rushing waters leap out from the rocks and thunder over 300 feet into the river below. On a sunny day, the moisture in the air might create a rainbow for the perfect photo opportunity.

Sandnes and the surrounding areas have for centuries played a leading part in Norway's maritime history, from the time when the Viking kings battled in Hafrsfjord, through the period of the "white sails" and the steamships up to modern super-tankers. Today you will explore the area's part of the Viking era.
From the pier, board your local coach and start your scenic drive. Approaching Hafrsfjord, learn about how the viking king Harald Haarfagre (the Fair-haired) in 872 defeated the last of the regional princes and united the 29 small kingdoms under one crown, thus founding the Kingdom of Norway. A stop will be made nearby the monument Swords in Rock which commemorates this battle.
Then continue to Stavanger, where you will enjoy a guided walk through "Old Stavanger" with picturesque, well preserved wooden houses in narrow lanes before arriving at your last stop, the Museum of Archaeology.
Here, discover the Viking Voyagers exhibition. This interesting exhibition uses sound and visual effects to bring the brutal yet fascinating Viking Age to life. A central part of the exhibition are the new Viking Age burials, recently found in Rogaland, containing keen-edged swords, golden buckles and brightly colored glass beads. There are also displays of the treasures stolen during their oversea raids such as Gilded, decorated Irish book clasps, brooches, beads of jet, silver treasure troves including Arabic coins.

From the pier in Sandnes, board your local coach and start your journey to Stavanger.
On the way, you will stop briefly at the Sword-in-Stone monument that commemorates the victory in 872 of Viking king Harald Haarfagre (the fair-haired) over the last of the regional princes, thus uniting 29 small kingdoms under one crown and establishing the Kingdom of Norway. Visit the nearby village of Ullandhaug, where farmhouses have been reconstructed to show what life was like during the Iron Age. Then, rejoin the coach and continue to Stavanger.
Stavanger is among the most important cities in Norway. Despite its age, dating back at least to the Viking Age, Stavanger only grew to its position among the most important Norwegian cities in the second half of the 20th century, after oil was discovered in the North Sea.
Upon arrival, you have to possibility to explore the Old Stavanger on foot. You will see well-preserved wooden houses surrounded by tiny, colourful gardens, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. They were mostly built for seafaring people, craftsmen and trading people.
Then, visit the modern Petroleum Museum. This striking building is situated in the middle of the harbor. It displays many exhibits from Norway’s relatively new petroleum history.
At the end of the tour, return to the ship in Sandnes.

Norway has a long tradition of cross-country skiing. This activity has been adapted to the walk you will discover today. Nordic walking is a total body version of walking but is different from hiking - the poles are not used vertically in front of the body but are pointed backwards, as in cross-country skiing. The technique is easy to learn, permitting to enjoy a true nature experience.
After a short transfer, begin your tour with a short walk through an industrial and residential area before you reach the shores of the Gandsfjord and a 19-mile-long (30 km) trail reaching all the way to the city of Stavanger. The trail runs in open countryside right beside the fjord and offers a fantastic view over the Gandsfjord and the mountains beyond. There are several lovely beaches along the way, and you will pass large rocky headlands protruding into the fjord.
Then, relax during a peaceful stop, where you will enjoy one of Norway’s best loved – and one of the simplest – culinary treats, the locally-made cheese. Together with rye bread and beverages, this constitutes a typical Norwegian back-to-the-basics trail snack.
Afterwards, board your coach for your transfer back to the pier.

Briksdal glacier is a part of the Jostedal glacier ice field, which is the largest glacier on the European mainland. The wild glacier is a fantastic work of Nature. Its slope plunges from a height of 3,937 feet (1,200 m) down to the lush, narrow Briksdal Valley. Briksdalsbreen Glacier lies at the end of enchanting Oldedalen valley.
Board your motor coach and start the tour. The trip through Oldedalen valley to Briksdal glacier is an amazing symphony of scenic splendours. From wild flowers to awe-inspiring mountains that are reflected in crystal clear lake waters, to great waterfalls that cascade from vertical mountainsides.
Your motor coach will stop at the mountain lodge, and from the lodge it is about 1.8 mile (3 km), a 45-minute walk on a gravel road up to the glacier. During your walk, enjoy the view onto the gigantic glacier.
If you don't want to walk that far, another option is to be driven by cars (7 seats in each) from the lodge, up to a parking lot which is a 10-minute walk from the glacier. Please note that you pay directly on the site for the transfer by vehicle. We will not be able to pre-book this service and unfortunately during the high season, vehicles are not always running.
Using the same way to get back to the lodge, you will have some more opportunities to take pictures walking down the path. At the lodge, enjoy a snack including tea, coffee and pastries, and some time at leisure in the well-stocked souvenir shop which will make your trip to Briksdal memorable.

The fantastic Nordfjord was created by glaciers, dominated by vikings and now, paddled by you.
Kayaking on a green fjord, in a quiet valley surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls and blue glaciers, is a memorable experience.
You will start your journey from the old Mølla guest house 5 minutes away by foot from the pier in Olden. Once at the kayak station, you will receive all equipment (kayak, paddle, spray-skirt, safety equipment) and a safety briefing to learn the dos and don’ts of kayaking.
You will be ready to start your tour from the pier, heading out into the fjord. As you follow the contours of the shore, your guide will share their local knowledge about the fjords and glaciers surrounding you. In the distance you will see waterfalls, glaciers and green mountainsides.
After approximately 2 hours of kayak, you will get back to the pier.
- Double kayaks are used. This tour may be cancelled in the case of poor weather conditions. You might get wet, so please bring a change of clothing and footwear with you. Although this tour does not require kayaking experience, participants must be good swimmers and have no fear of water. The fjord water may be very cold.

From the pier, drive to Stryn Lake. What makes Lovatnet so beautiful is the green color that comes from the melt water from the glaciers that lies on the mountain peaks around. The lake has an area of 10.4 square kilometers, and is 52 meters above sea level. Lovatnet has multiple streams from the Jostedals glacier and drains at Loelva to the fjord.
After a photostop, continue to Loen. Leaving the buses, board the new cable car (inaugurated 2017) taking you up to mount Hoven, 1011 metres above the sea – around 200 metres above the tree line in this part of Norway.
Enjoy a coffee-break and spectacular views of the fjord and villages below as well as the surrounding mountain scenery. During your stay at Hoven, you have the possibility to enjoy a short walk to soak up the scenery around you.
After some time at leisure, return by cable car to Loen where your bus will be waiting for you to bring you back to the pier in Olden.

From the pier, leave Geiranger by coach on a journey of discovery through the countryside in the west of Norway, a land majestic mountains and emerald green lakes. For more than 100 years the Geirangerfjord considered by many the world's most beautiful has been visited by cruise ships.
You will head for Mount Dalsnibba, climbing up through a beautiful landscape of mountains, waterfalls and lakes that follow one after the other, before arriving at Lake Djupvaten. A fantastic spectacle awaits as you enter a world of naked rock, ice and snow. Your route continues on up Mount Dalsnibba to a height of 4,930 feet (1,495 m) from where you will have an exceptional view (weather permitting). At this altitude, all the snow-capped peaks cast light on a scene that appears inaccessible.
You will then take a break for lunch in local restaurant. After lunch, you will head to the summer ski resort of Tystigen to capture the stunning panorama. Drive along the shores of Lake Stryn, the emerald-green colour of which is so typical of the area, due to the melting Jostedalen glacier that you will see further on. You will continue your route along the River Stryn, an excellent spot for salmon fishing, to Nordfjord and the village of Stryn, where you will be at leisure to stretch your legs and stroll around the streets. You last stop will be Hornindalsvatnet, one of the deepest lakes in Europe at 1,695 feet (514 m) deep.

From the pier, board your motor coach and go admire the beautiful scenery over your ship, all the way to Mount Dalsnibba.
As you reach the Djupvaten Lake at 3,280 feet (1,000 m) high, the landscape changes. From many vantage points you can see snow-covered mountains even in summer, glaciers and lakes.
Then you will proceed to mount Dalsnibba, 4,843 feet (1,495 m). From the top of the mount, enjoy a bird's-eye view of the scenery. Usually, the wind at the summit blows strongly. Mount Dalsnibba is located above the town of Geiranger, 4.5 miles (7 km) away from Geirangerfjord. It offers very good look-out opportunities.
On your way back, a stop is planned at Djupvasshytta Lodge. Here, you can stroll around the lake before enjoying a cup of tea and Norwegian pastries served at the Lodge.
You will also stop at Flydal, which offers once again a beautiful look-out point over your ship.
When your ship departs for her next port of call, do not hesitate to have a last look up, to Mount Dalsnibba.
- For this excursion, we recommend you to wear comfortable shoes. The order of the visits may change. During Spring season, the tollroad to Mount Dalsnibba may not yet be open due to snow. If the road is not open, a stop at Eagle's Bends viewpoint will be made instead.

From the pier, depart by minibus to the kayak base. A guide will meet at the landing stage holding a kayak sign. Then walk approximately 5 minutes to the kayak base, where the kayaks are waiting for you, before receiving safety briefing and paddling instructions.
Since Geiranger is at the end of a long fjord, it means that you will head out of the fjord. You will glide along the steep mountain walls to the Geiranger fjord where the “Preacher’s Pulpit” can be seen. Along the way, your guide will tell you stories about Geiranger and its people.
After approximately 1¾ hours in the kayak, you will return to the base and walk the few meters back to your minibus and then your ship.
There is no experience required; your well-trained guides will teach you all you need to know. This is the perfect adventure for all, families included.
Life jackets are compulsory and will of course be provided for all participants.

This excursion starts at the pier where you will be picked up and escorted to the RIB boat (a rigid-hulled inflatable buoyancy).
Your guide will give you winter equipment, both water and wind proof. Following a short introduction and briefing, you will sit astride a comfortable seat allowing everyone to enjoy the views. You will then start your exploration of Geirangerfjord.
While the RIB boat increases its speed, you will feel the sensation of freedom and excitement as the wind blows in your face. But the boat ride is not only about the speed. The driver will slow down below the small mountain farms along the fjord and give a short explanation. You will also see both the Seven Sisters Waterfalls and the Bridal Vail Waterfall at really close range which is an experience you will not easily forget.
After your 45-minutes trip, you will get back to the pier and walk back to your ship.

From the pier, meet your local guide and head to the nature park on foot. Enjoy the hike along the waterfall path.
Upon arrival, after a short safety briefing and putting on your zipline equipment, start your adventure in front of the splendid UNESCO World Heritage panorama of the Geirangerfjord. From treetop to treetop, over gorges and waterfalls, you whiz down the four secured ziplines. That is the most amazing way to discover this nature beauty.
Then, get back to the ship on your own.

This tour involves walking approximately 1,5 km each way, on uneven ground, uphill and downhill and 200 steps. It involves also approximately 45 minutes of ziplining. One of the ziplines can also be used by two people. For this activity participants must have a minimum weight of 30 kg and a minimum height of 110 cm. We recommend you wear comfortable sport clothing and shoes, and protect yourself from the sun and insects. This is not a guided tour. The nature park staff only speak English. A waiver will be requested in order to participate.

From the pier, you will start the tour with a short panoramic city tour through the Art Nouveau district of Alesund. The city's architectural character is in fact the result of a catastrophe - the great fire in 1904 and those young architects who participated in the rebuilding of the city were inspired by the Art Nouveau style.
Then you will drive up to Mount Aksla from where you have a beautiful view of the city, the islands and the Sunnmore Mountains.
Leaving the city you will drive through some of the world's largest undersea tunnels connecting the islands with the mainland. Today the approximately 6,300 inhabitants have a 'ferry-free connection' with the rest of Norway. To reach the islands you must traverse bridges and undersea tunnels, the longest being 2.5 miles. Reach Giske Island, which had a unique position during the Viking period.
The famous Gange - Rolv, or Rollo, was born on Giske. This great warrior conquered Normandie in 911 and became the ancestor of William the Conqueror, sire to the English Royal Family. The old marble church at Giske was built as a family chapel for one of most powerful families. The church is built in the Norman style and is a typical product of the architecture prior to 1200. In 1756 the church was restored. The local artist Jacob S. Giskegaard created the new interior including a new pulpit, and a new alter piece.
Continue your visit proceeding to Godoy Island and Alnes village located on the seaside. You will see a typical fishing village with a well-preserved and picturesque architecture. Its main attraction is its lighthouse. You will get the opportunity to climb up its stairs (87 steps) to enjoy a beautiful look-out to the Atlantic Ocean and the surroundings islands.
After this visit, you will return to your ship.

Ålesund, the largest town on the northwest coast of Norway, has a spectacular setting: stretching over three islands, near the ocean and backdropped by impressive mountain-peaks. The town centre was destroyed by a fire in 1904, but rebuilt shortly after in the characteristic Art Nouveau architectural style of the period. Today Ålesund has a population of approximately 40,000, but the town centre is relatively small and easy to cover on foot.
From the pier, you will start on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau museum, located in the old pharmacy building. The museum provides interesting insight into the fire of 1904 and the creative Art Nouveau period.
After your visit, you will continue your walking tour. Your guide will put particular emphasis on presenting the importance of fisheries in Norway's biggest fish export harbour and, of course, you will be shown a multitude of examples of the picturesque Art Nouveau style that has made Ålesund famous.
The tour will continue uphill to the quaint little park at the foot of mount Aksla. Here, you will find exotic trees and plants as well as a memorial stone dedicated to the German emperor Wilhelm II, for whom the main street in town is named after. Furthermore, you will see the statue of the Viking "Gange-Rolf" who sailed from Ålesund to what is today Normandy (France), named after the Norwegian settlers. From the park, you could choose to continue to ascend mount Aksla, where your will be rewarded for your efforts with a spectacular view. Or you could wander about in the park or just sit and have a rest before the return to the pier and your ship.
- This tour involves approximately 2 miles (3 km) of walking over even, paved and cobblestone surfaces with inclines. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and protect yourself from the rain. Glide around the heart of colorful Alesund, which is renowned for its unique Art Nouveau style. Hear the story of the fire that destroyed the town in 1904 and admire the intricate façades of the buildings that rose from the ashes, embellished with dragons and flowers, and crowned by a forest of spires and turrets. Make the most of your bike’s motor and head up to a viewpoint on Mount Aksla. From here, soak up a breathtaking vista spanning Ålesund, the surrounding mountains, the sparkling fjords, and the distant Sunnmore Alps.

An e-bike and helmet will be provided. Participants are required to have previously ridden a normal bicycle. The excursion involves 2 ½-hour cycling. Participants must be at least 4’9” tall (150 cm) and weigh under 242 pounds (110 kgs). Pregnant women, those with back problems, and children under age 12 are not permitted. We recommend you wear a wind/waterproof jacket, flat shoes, and sunglasses.

From the pier, board your local coach for a short scenic drive, through Alesund, the base of Sugarlump Mountain, located on the Island of Hessa.
Upon arrival, meet your experienced guide and begin a one-hour hike that starts at 164 feet above sea level and climbs to an elevation of 1,000 feet along a narrow hiking trail. The round trip is approximately 2.5 miles over varied terrain. As you trek, you’ll learn more about the indigenous flora and fauna and take in the panoramic views of the city of Alesund, Borgundfjord, and the Sunnmore Mountains.
At the conclusion of your hike, reboard your coach and relax on the return to port.
