In Athens, join us aboard Le Champlain for an unforgettable 11-day cruise. It will be an opportunity to discover major ancient sites from the great civilisations that spread across the Mediterranean and contributed to shape our modern world.
After a stop in Nafplion, a charming and well-preserved city dominated by an impressive Venitian citadel, Le Champlain will take you to Syros, a cosmopolitan island with a rich history. The Cyclades capital will surprise you with its authenticity and neo-classical architecture.
You will discover Patmos, known as the 'Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea'. This island, where Saint John is said to have written the Apocalypse, offers unique landscapes combining white sandy beaches and rocky coves.
The next stop will be Rhodes, where you will fall under the charm of the Gothic architecture in the medieval city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You will cross the world-famous Suez Canal, built by Ferdinand de Lesseps and widened recently to facilitate trade, before reaching Safaga in Egypt, and Aqaba in Jordan, the end of your voyage.

Ideal clothes for life on board:
During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. When moving about in the public areas of the ship and the decks, light but comfortable shoes are recommended.

The Greek capital city is located on the edge of the Saronic gulf, in the east of the country. It bears a plural name in reference to the first villages that surround the Acropolis. You will be enchanted by the rocky plateau presided by its monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage. In the city below, you can visit some of the liveliest districts in Athens: Plaka, with its maze of colourful streets, and where, in the evenings the drifting aroma of moussaka and garlic prawns will tickle your taste buds. The National Archaeological museum and the Cycladic Art Museum are also some of the city’s key attractions and allow visitors to discover Athens’ cultural past.

The engaging town of Nafplion is staggered up green hillsides of the Argolic Gulf, to the east of the Peloponnese. Do not be surprised by its extremely varied cultural heritage. Some of the must-see visits are the ancient agora on the plateau of Akronafplia, Italianate arcades in Syntagma square as well as the baroque fortress of Palamidi on a hillside of the same name. At the top of the hill, views of the gulf and the surrounding mountains are simply awesome. If you want to chill out by the water’s edge, walk along the Arvanitia promenade to a beautiful creek in the shade of cedars and cypresses.

Located to the west of Mykonos, Syros is an attractive island in the Cyclades. The island has been inhabited since ancient times and Ermoupolis, its capital, built in an amphitheatre, is spread over two hills. You may wish to visit its archaeological museum and the historical district, where the beautiful houses are evidence of the island’s strategic location for trade, between the East and the West. Admire the superb Agios Nikolaos Church or the Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary. Further on, the medieval town of Ano Syros allows to admire charming stairways and arched passageways, as well as small, white houses decorated with bougainvilleas.

Patmos is one of the legendary must-see islands in the Dodecanese. This is where Saint John resided, presumed author of the last book in the Bible. The cave of the Apocalypse and the Saint John Monastery are dedicated to him. These sites, which are listed by UNESCO as World Heritage, are located at the top of a hillside planted with vines and orchards. On the shore, the crystalline coves of Kambos and Lampi offer absolutely gorgeous swimming areas.

With its particularly agreeable climate, the island of Rhodes invites you to walk its pathways and discover its immaculate villages and sumptuous medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage site. At the centre of the island the mountains are covered in forest and on the western slopes we find vineyards and crops. Rhodes also owes much of its charm and its character to the Knights of St John who reigned over the island from 1310 to 1522 and built impressive defensive walls punctuated with majestic gateways. Do not miss this delightful island with its peaceful beaches and its large walkways, perpetuating the myth of the famous Colossus, the legendary statue that is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Without the waterway linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean this part of the world would be an arid sandy desert inhabited by a few nomads. The Suez Canal slices through 162 km of desert and was inaugurated in 1869 in the presence of Empress Eugenie, then nationalised by Nasser in 1956.

A former fishing and mining village, Safaga is now a charming seaside resort with much to offer. Located on the western coast of the Red Sea and preserved from mass tourism, the town will really plunge you into the heart of authentic Egypt and is an ideal departure point for an excursion into the desert in search of the Bedouin. The site is also renowned for the beauty of its underwater world, perfect for scuba diving and snorkelling. Above all, though, this stop in Safaga provides the opportunity to discover Luxor, the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes, considered to be one of the world’s greatest open-air museums thanks to its exceptional Pharaonic heritage.

Located in the Red Sea within the eponymous gulf, Aqaba offers Jordan its only access to the sea. At the crossroads of the land and sea routes that linked Asia, Africa and Europe, the town is rich with more than 5,000 years of history. The warm waters of the Red Sea attract holidaymakers and divers to this seaside destination; the underwater sites home to coral and fishes are some of the most beautiful in the world. Aqaba is also the gateway to the magnificent desert of Wadi Rum and the marvellous site of Petra.
Ancient Corinth & Canal crossing
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ½-hour drive to the ancient town of Corinth where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years.
Back in the ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (Market Place) and the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC). The systematic excavations of the area, initiated by the American School of Classical Studies in 1896, are still continuing today. They have brought to light the agora, temples, fountains, shops, porticoes, baths and various other monuments. The investigations extended also to the fortress on Acrocorinthos. But also, the prehistoric settlements, the Theatre, the Odeon, the Asklepeion, the cemeteries, the Quarter of the Potters, and other buildings outside the main archaeological site.
Then, you will discover is the famous Corinth Canal. The canal is 4 miles (6.3 km) long, 70 feet (21 m) wide and has sloping sides, which reach 170 feet (52 m). The depth is at 26 feet (8 m). Its construction commenced in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas to provide a short cut seems to date back to at least Roman times.
To complete this experience, you will board a local boat from the village of Isthmia, to navigate along the canal. Refreshments will be served on board.
Following your crossing of the canal, you will enjoy a buffet lunch before boarding your coach and return to Nafplion.

Epidaurus & Mycenae
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute ride to Epidaurus.
Lying 30 km (18.6 miles) east of Nafplion, Epidaurus is known for its ancient theatre. Considered one of the most important sanctuaries in the ancient world, Epidaurus was dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The world-famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is a marvel of harmony and acoustics and the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece. Built in limestone, it can accommodate 12,000 spectators.
Next, re-board your coach for a ride to the archaeological site of Mycenae. The first in-depth excavations were carried out in 1876 by the German archaeologist Schliemann, who was obsessed with finding the grave of King Agamemnon. His diligent work exposed the famous Lion Gate, the entrance to the city which contains the shaft burial graves of some ancient nobles. A short distance away is the Beehive Tomb, so called due to its unusual shape.
Finally, you will board your coach for a 30-minute ride to Nafplion.

Saint John Monastery & Apocalypse Cave
From the pier, board your coach for a drive to the Saint John Monastery. Overlooking Skala port and the island’s southern region, this medieval monastery looks more like a fortress than a house of prayer. It was built to repel attacks by pirates.
In the year 95 AD, Saint John the Evangelist was banished from Ephesus and exiled to Patmos, which in the days of the Roman Empire was where those who were exiled were sent.
In 1088, the Byzantine Emperor Alexios Komnenos authorised Saint Christodoulos, an abbot from Asia Minor, to erect a monastery in memory of Saint John. The whole island was yielded to the monastery. The adjoining Theotokos Chapel has frescoes dating back to the 12th century. Other Byzantine treasures are found in the monastery. Today this holy place is a veritable museum of Byzantine art thanks to the countless frescoes, icons, holy objects and manuscripts contained within its walls.
After visiting the monastery, a short drive away, will take you to the Apocalypse Cave where the final chapter of the New Testament was revealed to John the Apostle. The Book of Revelation prophecy came to him through a symbolic vision and was written in Greek. This cave was the house of the evangelist and now is surrounded by a monastery and school of theology. You can see the resting place outlined in beaten silver where St John laid his head every night. To the right the rock is shaped like a pulpit and is where the disciple, Prochoros, wrote the revelation as dictated by John.
Finally, you will re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier.

Altogether you will have to go up and down about 100 steps. Appropriate clothing is required to enter religious sites: shoulders and knees must be covered. Then you will walk to Zoodochos Pigi Convent where you will visit the church and the museum. Built in 1607 the convent houses a wealth of Icons and frescoes. Here we will discover the history and symbolism of iconography and meet one of the resident nuns. Nowadays, 15 nuns live in this convent respecting strict rules. They occupy with the art of needlework and embroideries of clerical vestments.
Finally, a short drive away is the Apocalypse Cave where the final chapter of the New Testament was revealed to John the Apostle. Capturing the images of Patmos
This tour, covering the south side of the island, not only gives you the opportunity of discovering hidden places but also an opportunity to photograph the most amazing land and seascapes along.
From the pier, board your minibus to the old village of Chora, the island’s capital and a photographer’s paradise! Your first experience is a panoramic view right over the island and over the 11th century monastery built like a fort, standing with proud dominance. You will be guided through Chora’s labyrinth of winding cobbled streets and maze of arched alleyways. The settlement of white-washed houses dating from 16th century, reflects the light casting shadows and creating geometric patterns. The alleys, arches and doorways display a harmonious balance revealing subtle architectural details which, through your lens, can become exciting atmospheric images trapped in time.
Continue to Diakofti stopping off to photograph the view of the mystical rock of Petra and then go to a boatyard. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph the local islanders at work and the streamline shapes of vessels in dry dock.
After a local refreshment, and your camera full of great images, you will return to Skala port.

This tour involves approximately 1.2 miles (2 km) of walking over uneven surfaces, narrow and cobblestone streets. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and protect yourself from the sun. You will use your own camera on this tour. A supplement of €25 per person will be applied if there are less than 10 participants. This tour is conducted by an English-speaking photography oriented guide. The guide will not give any information regarding the use of your camera. The observation of the workers and vessels in dry dock is not guaranteed. This tour is limited to 15 participants.

Panoramic views of Rhodes
From the pier, board your coach for a scenic tour of the east coast of Rhodes Island. You will be taken around the walls surrounding the city before heading up Mount Smith, named after the English admiral Sidney Smith, who observed the movements of the Napoleonic fleet from here. From this point, you can enjoy panoramic views over Rhodes and the castles. If the weather is good, you may even catch a glimpse of the Turkish coast and the neighbouring islands.
You will reach Lindos by a route passing through the hinterland. From one promontory, you can see the whole of the famous Acropolis. Built between the 7th and 6th centuries BC, the Acropolis of Lindos is a sprawling complex of structures from various historical periods, perched dramatically above the town. A place of worship from the Mycenaean Age, it was expanded during the Hellenistic period, before the Knights of the Order of Hospitallers established a fortress here which they retained until the Ottoman era.
Taking the scenic route, you will arrive at Faliraki, a traditional fishing village where you will enjoy some local snacks with a glass of Greece's trademark Ouzo.
On the way back to your ship, you will pass through typical villages.

Walking tour of Rhodes
After disembarking, discover the City of Knights on a guided walking tour.
Follow your guide through the cobbled streets to the impressive Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, built in the 14th century and containing Greek and Roman mosaics originating from the island of Kos.
After visiting the palace, you will walk along the famous Avenue of the Knights, lined with the old Knights' inns, each dedicated to one of the Order's various nationalities. It is unusually straight for a medieval street, and its sombre buildings present a majestic and forbidding face to the world with their 15th-century Gothic walls and arcades worn smooth over the centuries. Retracing an ancient route, the straight line of this street cuts through the maze of winding alleyways surrounding it.
A refreshment stop will be offered after your guided tour.
You will then return directly to your ship with your guide or wander around the streets and shops at your leisure.

The Acropolis of Lindos
The Acropolis of Lindos, a rocky promontory that towers over the town, has been used since the 6th century B.C. as a citadel and place of worship successively by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, the Knights of St. John, and the Ottomans. It is one of the most important archaeological sites on the island of Rhodes, and it is also one of the most picturesque locations, attracting artists from around the world.
Your excursion begins with a scenic drive south from Rhodes town, through orange and lemon groves, prosperous vineyards, and gnarled olive trees. As your motorcoach rounds the last bend of the road, your first views of Lindos are of the rocky cliffs of the acropolis surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Spread out below you is Lindos village, clustered with pretty whitewashed houses, its streets paved with intricately patterned black and white pebbles collected from the sea.
As you begin your climb up the footpath to the summit, the first ruins you encounter are walls built atop ancient fortifications by crusaders in the early 14th century, and when you reach the top, you pass through battlements constructed by the Knights of St. John to defend against the Ottomans and enter the acropolis complex. Here, with absolutely stunning views in all directions, you discover the ancient remains of the 4th-century B.C. Doric Temple of Athena Lindia and the imposing columns of the Hellenistic Stoa, as well as a Byzantine church and additional remnants of the Knights' citadel.
After making your way back down to the modern town, you will have some time at leisure to browse the shops brimming with attractive souvenirs before returning to Rhodes.

Dendera Temple
Upon disembarking from the ship in the port of Safaga, meet your guide and board your coach for the 2.5-hour trip to the city of Qena. On the way, you will enjoy the majestic scenic vistas provided by the vast expanses of desert and barren mountains interspersed with areas of surprisingly fertile farmland.
Situated south of Qena on the west bank of the Nile, Dendera is one of the best sights in Luxor. Originally called Tentyris, it was one of the most important religious centres in ancient Egypt.
There are three temples to view in the complex, along with a sacred pool. The entire complex covers some 40,000 square metres surrounded by a mud-brick wall.
The worship temple was dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love, joy and beauty. It was built by Ptolemy XII around 380 BC and nearly completed by Queen Cleopatra VII around 54 to 20 BC. There is evidence of temples and other structures dating all the way back to 2550 BC.
After a truly unforgettable day immersing yourself in Egypt's mesmerizing ancient history and culture, you will return to your coach for the trip back to the ship.

Snorkelling in the Red Sea
This area of the Red Sea is known as one of the best snorkelling spots in the world. Enjoy the opportunity to snorkel among colourful tropical fish and intricate coral formations.
From the pier, board your coach for a short ride to your motorboat, which you will board to set off on your snorkelling trip to two different spots.
Once you have received the safety instructions and your snorkelling gear, leave your boat and start your exploration to discover the marine life. Underwater sightings could include blue-spotted stingrays, groupers, and other rainbow-coloured species.
Your guide will accompany you in the water, point out the best spots for snorkelling and observing the marine life, and assist you throughout the excursion.

Day 2 - Athens
After breakfast, your walking guided visit will be first focus on Anafiotika district.
This picturesque old quarter is located under the Acropolis. This very typical architecture looks like to the Cycladic islands, with narrow streets and white-washed houses with colorful shutters.
You will learn more about its history with your guide. And you will have the perfect opportunity to take the most beautiful photos, through the lens of a professional photograph at your disposal to give you tips and help you..
Later, you will walk until a local tavern in the Plaka district and you will enjoy a traditional Greek lunch followed by a short time at leisure in Plaka.
During the afternoon, you will visit the Acropolis Museum, which is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built in order to house every artifact found on the rock and at its foot, covering a large period of time from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. Nearly 4,000 objects are exhibited over an area of 14,000 square metres.
After the Museum visit, time at leisure to strool around the Museum area (about 1 hour). Then short drive back to your hotel (about 15 minutes).

Explore the beauty and mystery of Egypt's ancient temples and tombs during this memorable journey to Luxor. Along the way, you will visit the Karnak, Luxor and Hatshepsut Temples, Medinet Habu, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Valley of the Kings. Day 1 - Safaga/Luxor
After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port of Safaga by your guide. You will then board your coach for the 3.5-hour drive to Luxor.
Upon arrival, you will visit the Luxor Museum, which is remarkably entertaining with its displays of pottery and jewellery, including a carefully selected assortment of items from the Theban temples and necropolis.
Your next visit will be made to the Luxor Temple. This renowned ancient structure was originally built during the reign of Amenophis the III, and then expanded by Ramses II, who added a statue of himself and two obelisks. Today, only one remains at the Luxor Temple; the other was given by Mohamed Ali to Louis Philippe in 1831 and is displayed at the Place de la Concorde in Paris to this day. After Alexander the Great rebuilt the sanctuary in the 4th century BC, the Romans further reconstructed portions of it and the Muslims built a mosque in the temple.
You will then be transferred to Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa for check-in and dinner.
Day 2 - Luxor/Safaga
After a buffet breakfast, you will start your day with a visit to the Valley of the Kings nestled in the foothills of the Gourma Mountains. More than 60 tombs of Pharaohs and noblemen have been found in this valley. The kings'formal names and titles are inscribed on their tombs, along with their images and statues.
You will not only make the usual valley tombs visit, but also enjoy a special visit of one of the most beautiful tombs in the valley known as Seti I tomb which includes the most beautiful paintings in the valley, and which is considered to be the longest tomb there, measuring some 449 foot (137 metres). You will also visit King Tut tomb.
Next, you will continue on for a photo stop at the Hatshepsut Temple, uniquely designed as a series of grand terraces extending up a cliff, with rows of square granite columns blending into the mountainside.
From here, you will proceed for a visit to the most beautiful and exclusive tomb in all Egypt, the tomb of Queen Nefertari which is known for its lavishly decoration and colours. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed to visit this tomb per day.
Finally, a photo stop will be made at the Colossi of Memnon, which was originally built as a mortuary temple in Thebes and is guarded by two gigantic statues on the outer gates. All that remains today are the 75-foot (23-metre) high, 1,000-ton statues of Amenhotep III.
Following this west bank visit, enjoy lunch on board the Dahabeya sailing boat on your way back to your hotel. Arrive at your hotel and check-out.
The afternoon will include a visit to the Karnak Temple. Located about 2 miles (3 km) north of the Luxor Temple but connected to it by an impressive avenue of sphinxes, the Karnak Temple was the most important sanctuary of ancient Egypt, and the focus of the cult of the god Amon. Each pharaoh added his own contribution to the temple over the ensuing 2,000 years. The Ptolemys erected the massive first pylon you will see. Past the second pylon, guarded by a pair of huge statues of Ramses II, you will find the great hypostyle hall; the largest hall of any temple in the world. It spans some 50,000 square feet (5,000 m²) and contains 134 huge columns. You will be able to observe that some of the columns still have traces of the brilliant paint that originally covered them. The third pylon leads to the centre court, and past the fourth pylon is the 97-foot (30-metre) high obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, carved from a solid piece of pink granite. As you pass through successive pylons and courts, you will journey back in time until you reach the oldest part of the temple, built by the pharaohs of the middle kingdom around 2000 BC. At the south end of the temple, you will find the sacred lake where ceremonial boats took part in the worship of Amon.
Following the visit of Karnak Temple, you will depart for a 3.5-hour drive to Safaga to rejoin your ship.

Ancient Corinth & Canal crossing
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ½-hour drive to the ancient town of Corinth where Saint Paul lived and preached for two years.
Back in the ancient times, Corinth was amongst the richest cities and this is quite evident by its remains, including the huge Agora (Market Place) and the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC). The systematic excavations of the area, initiated by the American School of Classical Studies in 1896, are still continuing today. They have brought to light the agora, temples, fountains, shops, porticoes, baths and various other monuments. The investigations extended also to the fortress on Acrocorinthos. But also, the prehistoric settlements, the Theatre, the Odeon, the Asklepeion, the cemeteries, the Quarter of the Potters, and other buildings outside the main archaeological site.
Then, you will discover is the famous Corinth Canal. The canal is 4 miles (6.3 km) long, 70 feet (21 m) wide and has sloping sides, which reach 170 feet (52 m). The depth is at 26 feet (8 m). Its construction commenced in 1881, although the idea of connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas to provide a short cut seems to date back to at least Roman times.
To complete this experience, you will board a local boat from the village of Isthmia, to navigate along the canal. Refreshments will be served on board.
Following your crossing of the canal, you will enjoy a buffet lunch before boarding your coach and return to Nafplion.

Epidaurus & Mycenae
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute ride to Epidaurus.
Lying 30 km (18.6 miles) east of Nafplion, Epidaurus is known for its ancient theatre. Considered one of the most important sanctuaries in the ancient world, Epidaurus was dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The world-famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, built in the 4th century BC, is a marvel of harmony and acoustics and the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece. Built in limestone, it can accommodate 12,000 spectators.
Next, re-board your coach for a ride to the archaeological site of Mycenae. The first in-depth excavations were carried out in 1876 by the German archaeologist Schliemann, who was obsessed with finding the grave of King Agamemnon. His diligent work exposed the famous Lion Gate, the entrance to the city which contains the shaft burial graves of some ancient nobles. A short distance away is the Beehive Tomb, so called due to its unusual shape.
Finally, you will board your coach for a 30-minute ride to Nafplion.

From the pier, board your coach for a drive to the Saint John Monastery. Overlooking Skala port and the island’s southern region, this medieval monastery looks more like a fortress than a house of prayer. It was built to repel attacks by pirates.
In the year 95 AD, Saint John the Evangelist was banished from Ephesus and exiled to Patmos, which in the days of the Roman Empire was where those who were exiled were sent.
In 1088, the Byzantine Emperor Alexios Komnenos authorised Saint Christodoulos, an abbot from Asia Minor, to erect a monastery in memory of Saint John. The whole island was yielded to the monastery. The adjoining Theotokos Chapel has frescoes dating back to the 12th century. Other Byzantine treasures are found in the monastery. Today this holy place is a veritable museum of Byzantine art thanks to the countless frescoes, icons, holy objects and manuscripts contained within its walls.
After visiting the monastery, a short drive away, will take you to the Apocalypse Cave where the final chapter of the New Testament was revealed to John the Apostle. The Book of Revelation prophecy came to him through a symbolic vision and was written in Greek. This cave was the house of the evangelist and now is surrounded by a monastery and school of theology. You can see the resting place outlined in beaten silver where St John laid his head every night. To the right the rock is shaped like a pulpit and is where the disciple, Prochoros, wrote the revelation as dictated by John.
Finally, you will re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier.

From the pier, board your minibus to the old village of Chora, the island’s capital and a photographer’s paradise! Your first experience is a panoramic view right over the island and over the 11th century monastery built like a fort, standing with proud dominance. You will be guided through Chora’s labyrinth of winding cobbled streets and maze of arched alleyways. The settlement of white-washed houses dating from 16th century, reflects the light casting shadows and creating geometric patterns. The alleys, arches and doorways display a harmonious balance revealing subtle architectural details which, through your lens, can become exciting atmospheric images trapped in time.
Continue to Diakofti stopping off to photograph the view of the mystical rock of Petra and then go to a boatyard. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph the local islanders at work and the streamline shapes of vessels in dry dock.
After a local refreshment, and your camera full of great images, you will return to Skala port.

Panoramic views of Rhodes
From the pier, board your coach for a scenic tour of the east coast of Rhodes Island. You will be taken around the walls surrounding the city before heading up Mount Smith, named after the English admiral Sidney Smith, who observed the movements of the Napoleonic fleet from here. From this point, you can enjoy panoramic views over Rhodes and the castles. If the weather is good, you may even catch a glimpse of the Turkish coast and the neighbouring islands.
You will reach Lindos by a route passing through the hinterland. From one promontory, you can see the whole of the famous Acropolis. Built between the 7th and 6th centuries BC, the Acropolis of Lindos is a sprawling complex of structures from various historical periods, perched dramatically above the town. A place of worship from the Mycenaean Age, it was expanded during the Hellenistic period, before the Knights of the Order of Hospitallers established a fortress here which they retained until the Ottoman era.
Taking the scenic route, you will arrive at Faliraki, a traditional fishing village where you will enjoy some local snacks with a glass of Greece's trademark Ouzo.
On the way back to your ship, you will pass through typical villages.

Walking tour of Rhodes
After disembarking, discover the City of Knights on a guided walking tour.
Follow your guide through the cobbled streets to the impressive Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, built in the 14th century and containing Greek and Roman mosaics originating from the island of Kos.
After visiting the palace, you will walk along the famous Avenue of the Knights, lined with the old Knights' inns, each dedicated to one of the Order's various nationalities. It is unusually straight for a medieval street, and its sombre buildings present a majestic and forbidding face to the world with their 15th-century Gothic walls and arcades worn smooth over the centuries. Retracing an ancient route, the straight line of this street cuts through the maze of winding alleyways surrounding it.
A refreshment stop will be offered after your guided tour.

The Acropolis of Lindos
The Acropolis of Lindos, a rocky promontory that towers over the town, has been used since the 6th century B.C. as a citadel and place of worship successively by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, the Knights of St. John, and the Ottomans. It is one of the most important archaeological sites on the island of Rhodes, and it is also one of the most picturesque locations, attracting artists from around the world.
Your excursion begins with a scenic drive south from Rhodes town, through orange and lemon groves, prosperous vineyards, and gnarled olive trees. As your motorcoach rounds the last bend of the road, your first views of Lindos are of the rocky cliffs of the acropolis surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Spread out below you is Lindos village, clustered with pretty whitewashed houses, its streets paved with intricately patterned black and white pebbles collected from the sea.
As you begin your climb up the footpath to the summit, the first ruins you encounter are walls built atop ancient fortifications by crusaders in the early 14th century, and when you reach the top, you pass through battlements constructed by the Knights of St. John to defend against the Ottomans and enter the acropolis complex. Here, with absolutely stunning views in all directions, you discover the ancient remains of the 4th-century B.C. Doric Temple of Athena Lindia and the imposing columns of the Hellenistic Stoa, as well as a Byzantine church and additional remnants of the Knights' citadel.
After making your way back down to the modern town, you will have some time at leisure to browse the shops brimming with attractive souvenirs before returning to Rhodes.

From the pier, board your coach bound for the city of Hurghada, where you will find your all-terrain vehicle. You will quickly leave the asphalt roads behind and drive through the Arabian Desert towards Om Garia, for a close look at the real life of the Bedouins. Photo stops are planned along the way.
At your destination, Bedouins will be waiting for you and will let you explore their camp and learn about their culture and life. Dendera Temple
Upon disembarking from the ship in the port of Safaga, meet your guide and board your coach for the 2.5-hour trip to the city of Qena. On the way, you will enjoy the majestic scenic vistas provided by the vast expanses of desert and barren mountains interspersed with areas of surprisingly fertile farmland.
Situated south of Qena on the west bank of the Nile, Dendera is one of the best sights in Luxor. Originally called Tentyris, it was one of the most important religious centres in ancient Egypt.
There are three temples to view in the complex, along with a sacred pool. The entire complex covers some 40,000 square metres surrounded by a mud-brick wall.
The worship temple was dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love, joy and beauty. It was built by Ptolemy XII around 380 BC and nearly completed by Queen Cleopatra VII around 54 to 20 BC. There is evidence of temples and other structures dating all the way back to 2550 BC.
After a truly unforgettable day immersing yourself in Egypt's mesmerizing ancient history and culture, you will return to your coach for the trip back to the ship.

Snorkelling in the Red Sea
This area of the Red Sea is known as one of the best snorkelling spots in the world. Enjoy the opportunity to snorkel among colourful tropical fish and intricate coral formations.
From the pier, board your coach for a short ride to your motorboat, which you will board to set off on your snorkelling trip to two different spots.
Once you have received the safety instructions and your snorkelling gear, leave your boat and start your exploration to discover the marine life. Underwater sightings could include blue-spotted stingrays, groupers, and other rainbow-coloured species.
Your guide will accompany you in the water, point out the best spots for snorkelling and observing the marine life, and assist you throughout the excursion.
After snorkelling, you will return to the motorboat launch site and board your coach for the transfer back to the ship.

In the first and second century, after the Romans took over, the city reached the peak of its fame.
From the entrance, it is an 800 meter (½ mi.) walk to the entrance of the old city. Then continue your walk on foot along the « Siq » to visit the rose-red city of Petra. Petra covers an area of about 100 square km (38 sq. mi.), where over 800 monuments can be found.
When shipping slowly displaced caravan routes, the city’s importance gradually dwindled; it fell into disuse and was lost to the world until 1812, when it was rediscovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burkhart. Nowadays, Petra is Jordan’s number one tourist attraction, known as the “rose-red city half as old as time”.
At the end of your visit, enjoy a lunch in a local restaurant inside the site.

Day 2 – Petra/Wadi Rum/Aqaba
You will depart the hotel by coach for a 2-hour drive to Wadi Rum.
Upon arrival in Wadi Rum, you will board four-wheel drive Bedouin truck driven by a local Bedouin, then start a 2-hour drive inside the beautiful desert. The landscape of Wadi Rum, also known as “Valley of the Moon”, with its immensity, colours and awe-inspiring shapes, creates an almost supernatural atmosphere. The place has been the setting for the famous film Lawrence of Arabia, as well as the actual location where T. E. Lawrence set his camp, whose book The Seven Pillars of Wisdom was named after the seven natural columns varying in height located in route to Wadi Rum. Bedouin camps are evident in the Wadi, which is still home to many Bedouin families, who welcome visitors with the hospitality and generosity that characterizes them.
Proceed to a Bedouin camp for some rest and lunch.
After lunch, you will be taken to Aqaba.

Otherwise known as Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum is the largest - and most magnificent - of Jordan's desert landscapes and has been virtually untouched by humans. A maze of monolithic rock formations rises up from the desert floor to heights of 1,750 meters (5,740 feet), creating a natural challenge for serious mountaineers. However, Wadi Rum may be best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence, who passed through several times during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. In the 1980s one of the rock formations in Wadi Rum was named "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" after Lawrence's book penned in the aftermath of the war, although the 'Seven Pillars' referred to in the book have no connection with Rum.
Enjoy a four-hour excursion of Wadi Rum in a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Please note that this excursion is conducted on board a simple vehicle which is operated by a local charity foundation. The revenue generated through these tours helps support the livelihood of the local Bedouins.

South of Amman proudly stands Madaba, the "City of Mosaics", perched on an archaeological site with more than 4,000 years of history buried beneath it. The quality and quantity of the mosaic flooring found here has made Madaba one of the most prominent cities in the world for mosaics. St. George's Church houses a world-famous mosaic floor containing a large mosaic map of Palestine, which also features a detailed map of Jerusalem as it was during the sixth century. At the Church of the Apostles, at the southern entrance of the city, is a mosaic floor attributed to the craftsman Salamanios, depicting the sea, with the central figure of a woman encircled with a selection of creatures, vegetation and an inscription.
Your lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
After your lunch, drive to your hotel in the Dead Sea, enjoy a photo stop en-route.
The Dead Sea has a historical and spiritual legacy of its own. It is believed to be the site of five biblical cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Zoar (Bela).
At 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is infinite in what it has to offer. Ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to the Dead Sea in search of its curative secrets. Due to high annual temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely exogenous, and the high content of oxygen and magnesium in the air make breathing a lot easier.
With the highest content of minerals and salts in the world, the Dead Sea water possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and the dark mud found on the shores have been used for over 2000 years for therapeutic purposes.
