Set sail to discover the cultural and artistic jewels of the Aegean, Adriatic and Ionian Seas with PONANT. During this 8-day cruise, Le Bougainville will take you to Greece, Montenegro, Croatia and Italy.
From Athens, you will follow a memorable crossing of the Corinth Canal, a famous sea channel dug out by men in the 19th century.
You will then set sail for Galaxidi. You will be charmed by this picturesque village where calm and tranquillity reign.
Le Bougainville will then set sail for Parga, a charming little town nesting in the heart of an isolated bay. Its colourful houses, built on the hillside, enjoy a superb view over the Ionian Sea and overlook beaches of great beauty.
You will sail towards the beautiful and secret Paxos, covered with olive trees and bathed with legends in the aquamarine and dark blue sea.
Your ship will chart a course north towards Montenegro where the Bay of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will welcome you for a wonderful journey through four mountainous gulfs where sheer cliffs plunge into a deep blue sea.
You will sail along the Croatian coast starting from Dubrovnik, the aptly named “Pearl of the Adriatic”, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before finishing your exploration of the Croatian coastlines with visits of Hvar and Rovinj.
As a grand finale, your voyage will draw to an end in Venice the Serenissima and its lagoon. Piazza San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, the Grand Canal and the palaces along the canals will be your last stops on an unforgettable cruise.

During the days spent on board, you are advised to wear comfortable clothes or casual outfits. The entire ship is air-conditioned, so a light sweater, a light jacket or a shawl may be necessary. The Greek capital city is located on the edge of the Saronic gulf, in the east of the country. It bears a plural name in reference to the first villages that surround the Acropolis. You will be enchanted by the rocky plateau presided by its monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage. In the city below, you can visit some of the liveliest districts in Athens: Plaka, with its maze of colourful streets, and where, in the evenings the drifting aroma of moussaka and garlic prawns will tickle your taste buds. The National Archaeological museum and the Cycladic Art Museum are also some of the city’s key attractions and allow visitors to discover Athens’ cultural past.

The Corinth Canal cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth, turning the Peloponnese into an island as it separates the region from the Greek mainland. Inaugurated in 1893, the canal is a little over six kilometres long and enables merchant vessels and passenger to avoid a long 400-km detour around the peninsula. The two sides of the canal reach a height of approximately fifty metres. From the exterior decks, don’t miss this unique opportunity to watch the ship as it navigates along the narrow strip of water encased between tall, ochre cliffs. What an experience!

Emblem of the Dalmatian coast, Dubrovnik is magnificently positioned on a rocky spur. History is sovereign here, in this ancient city, now a listed UNESCO World Heritage site. You will perhaps be surprised by the proportions of La Placa, the central drag through the city. The sheer width of it can be explained by the fact that it straddles a former lagoon. The elegant houses along La Placa are built in the legendary travertine stone. At Pile gate, you will be greeted by the statue of the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and you can admire the coastline as you walk along the ramparts. But what’s inside Fort Saint John, adjoining the outer walls? A maritime museum and an aquarium featuring rare fish from the Adriatic.

Off the coast of Split, Hvar will surprise you by its traditions that have not changed since Antiquity. The country’s oldest town, Stari Grad, is here on this Dalmatian Island. The town nestles by a cove on the north-west coast, surrounded by dry stone wall structures on the Stari Grad plains. These have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site because they were built in the time of the Ancient Greeks. From these parcels of land come wines and olive oil manufactured manually. In the upper part of town, it is possible to discover hams and cheeses made by local producers.

Rovinj is located in Istria, a region bordering Slovenia. This becomes apparent as you walk through its old cobblestoned town. There are many monuments of Venetian influence here. If you study the Balbi arch, you will see the winged lion, symbol of Venice. The bell-tower erected beside Saint Euphemia Cathedral was designed like the bell of Saint Mark in Venice. From the top of the tower, you can scan the entire historical district. To absorb its quaint atmosphere, take a walk in the ochre and sepia-coloured streets leading to bustling squares and terraces shaded by canvas awnings.

Proud and eternal, Venice has reigned on its lagoon ever since the 6th century. You may think you know this city before even setting foot here. You will inevitably fall in love with the charm of the innumerable treasures of the Serenissima: Saint Mark’s square, the basilica, Doges palace, the Grand Canal and the gondolas. Yet, secret Venice is also waiting for you to explore its little interlacing streets and canals, to ramble through its squares and to push open the doors of its churches. The city’s extraordinary heritage shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a glass of Spritz and a few tramezzini.
Monastery of Saint Lucas & Arachova
From the pier, board your coach for the one hour and 30 mintute drive to the Monastery of Saint Lucas.
The historic walled monastery is one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art and is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in Greece. It was founded in the early 10th century by the hermit Saint Lucas, whose relics are kept in the monastery. The main shrine is the tomb of Saint Lucas, originally situated in the vault, but later placed at the juncture of the two churches, the church of Theotokos and the Catholic Church which is the oldest in the complex.
Continue your journey with the visit of Arachova village. Arachova is a mountain small village and its quaint houses are built up on the north slopes of Mount Parnassos, with 3,300 inhabitants, at 800 - 1,100m altitude. In 2000 B.C. Homer mentioned in the Iliad two famous generals who took part in the Trojan War Epistrophos and Schedias from the old towns of Anemoria and Kiparissos. These towns were situated around where Arachova stands today. Later, in about 334 B.C. Philip the Second King of Macedonia destroyed both towns and their populations dispersed over the hills until a new town, Arachova, was built. Today the 'jewel' of Parnassos Arachova remains vital because it keeps its traditions alive and the residents remain simple and hospitable. From the first moment, you will feel a different wind blowing up here, and understand why the locals work so hard to upkeep the areas natural beauty. This town is famous for its carpets and blankets woven by hand and for its wines and cheeses.
After a short walking tour and time to browse through the narrow streets with the numerous souvenir and local product shops, you will return to the ship.

Sacred site of Delphi
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 hour drive to the Archaeological Site of Delphi.
Once arriving, you will take the Sacred Way that was followed by ancient pilgrims and visitors to the site. The path begins at the southeast corner of the site and winds its way up the hillside, past ancient treasuries and monuments, to the temple of Apollo.
It is an imposing temple of the Doric order whose existence was woven through the turbulent history of the site and endured numerous incarnations. The remains that you can see date back to the 4th century B.C. The Temple of Apollo was first built around the 7th century B.C. by the two legendary architects Trophonios and Agamedes. The exterior was decorated with shields captured from the Persians at Plataea. This temple was also of the Doric order and had 6 columns at the front, and 15 columns at the flanks. Today, you can see one complete column of the facade and portions of five more columns. Also visible are the foundations of the outer colonnade and the interior sekos.
You will continue your walk and pass the spare ruins of the Senate of Delphi, followed be a pile of rocks, marking the site of the early Delphi Oracle which according to legend was guarded by the snake Python. For those who wish, the Theatre can be visited.
A few steps from the sanctuary of Apollo, the Delphi museum has exhibited for over a century, the objects found at the archaeological site. He is one of the four largest museums in Greece, with Athens and Olympia. Vases, bronzes, sculptures found in temples, offerings made to Apollo by the pilgrims, objects of gold and ivory found under the slabs of the Sacred Way can be admired in this museum.
You will then return to the port.

Hiking & rafting at Acheron River
After five minutes walk through the town of Parga, you will board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Gliki village.
This little village sits next to the picturesque Acheron River known as the mystical river Styx of Greek mythology believed to lead to the entrance of the underworld and Kingdom of Hades. According to tradition, Zeus was devastated when the Titans drunk from the water and then he condemned the river to remain eternally under the earth.
In this beautiful surrounding with rich vegetation and crystalline waters which comprise a unique natural landscape you will start a 45-minute guided walk and exploration through the banks of the river. In some parts of your walk there are lakes and water pits.
Returning back to the starting point, you will board the rafting boats in groups of 6 per boat and together with your boat instructor you will raft for approximately 7 minutes in the transparent waters of the river which flows through the forest slopes of the canyon and the Gliki gorge.
Then, you will enjoy refreshments with local snacks in one of the river side taverns before you board your coach and return to Parga.
- This tour involves approximately 45 minutes of walking on uneven paths with, sometimes, water up to the knees. The water level can be rise until upper thighs. This tour is not recommended for guests with any mobility challenges. Participants must be able to embark and disembark from a rafting boat. We recommend you wear water shoes and waterproof clothes or clothes that you can get wet. The boat instructor is English speaking. The water temperature is often fresh. Each rafting boat can welcome 6 participants and the rafting boat lasts less than ten minutes. The minimum age to participate in this excursion is 10 years. This tour is limited to 36 participants.

City of Arta & Archaeological Museum
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ¼ -hour drive to Arta, region of Greece still largely untouched by tourism.
The modern town of Arta sits on the ancient site of Ambracia. An ancient Corinthian colony dating back to the 7th century B.C. which later became the capital of the Kingdom of Pyrrhus in about 295 B.C.
Arriving into Arta, who means “fortress”, you will see the famous stone bridge standing over the river Arachthos. The bridge dates back to the 17th century but it is built on the site of older bridges that go back even further to the time of Pyrrus. Legend has it that the bridge's builder, frustrated with each day’s work being ruined by the river, was advised by a bird that the problem could be solved by putting his wife in the foundations which he actually did.
You will enjoy the panoramic view from the bridge on the river and its surroundings before continuing to the Archaeological Museum of Arta, located just a short distance from the bridge and near the banks of Arachthos River.
This museum, fully renovated, houses the antiquities from the wider region of Arta and the exhibits cover a time span from the Palaeolithic to the Roman times. The collection includes funerary stelae and burial offerings from the cemeteries of ancient Ambracia finds from the ancient city of Ambracia, as well as from the "Koudounotrypa" cave, and several other sites in the region of Arta.
Arta is also famous for its Byzantine architecture and churches, the most beautiful and famous one being the church of Panagia Parigoritissa, dating from the 13th century. This church, crowned with towers and domes, is ornate with wall paintings inside dating back hundreds of years that you can discover during your visit.
Following your visit to the church take a stroll around the colourful pedestrian street of the town with its little shops and cafes before you board your coach again for your return drive to the port of Parga.

Ancient Nikopolis & Preveza
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute drive to Ancient Nikopolis. The city of victory was founded in 31 BC by Augustus, in honour of his victory over Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium.
Your first stop will be made at Nikopolis archaeological site. The town grew and flourished both in Roman times, which numbered about 30,000 residents but also later in Christian times. This archaeological site houses many monuments scattered over an area of about 600 ha (1500 acres). Among the most important monuments, you will admire Roman and especially Byzantine walls, a theatre, baths, aqueducts and parts of the old churches.
Then, you will visit the Nikopolis museum which contains collections of architectural parts and sculptures from the ancient city and offerings from the cemetery of Nikopolis.
Following your visit, you will board your coach for a short drive to the town of Preveza. During your walking tour around the picturesque small port, you will visit the old town streets, passing by the public market building. Built in 1939 to house the grocery and butchery shops of the city, the building houses today the Municipality’s Cultural Centre.
Then, you will walk to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Agios Charalampos (outside visit) before continuing passing by the Venetian Clock Tower. This building, built in 1752, is a typical example of the architecture of the Venetian domination. Its solar clock and the older temple contributed to the reputation of the town.
Finally, you will return to your ship in Parga.
- This excursion involves 0.62 mile (1 km) of walking on uneven terrains with some steps. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and protect yourself from the sun. This tour is limited to 90 participants.

Walking on Ston walls & oyster tasting
From the pier, board your coach for a 1-hour scenic drive along the Adriatic Road toward the town of Ston.
Ston was built according to the plans approved by the Dubrovnik government in 1335 and amended in 1370 and is considered one of the best planned and best structured cities in Europe. The walls of Ston were a massive architecture and construction feat. Originally 7,000 metre long (22,965 ft.), they consist of several parts; the Ston city walls, the Mali Ston city walls and the Big wall with its three forts. Its forts and towers are strengthened by 10 round and 31 square flanking towers, as well as 6 semicircular bastions. It took almost four centuries to finish these complex defence walls, as the builders had to adapt to the rough terrain and advancements in warfare technology. The walls were last used for defence in the 19th century, and today they are a priceless monument of immense architectural and cultural value.
Once arriving at Ston’s walls, you will start your hiking passing distance of almost 900 meters over demanding terrain with more than 150 steps before joining your coach for a ride to Mali Ston, the 'oysters capital' of Croatia.
Upon arrival in Mali Ston, you will board a local boat which will take you to oyster and mussel beds. Your host will welcome you on board and introduce you with oyster & mussel farming in this area. You will have the opportunity to learn about the oyster & mussel production as well as to taste freshly prepared oysters & mussels including mussel buzara (mussels cooked with wine, garlic and olive oil).
Finally, re-board your coach for a 1-hour return ride back to Dubrovnik along the old historical road passing through the old villages of Dubrovacko Primorje.
- This tour is an active hiking tour and involves approximately 1.4 miles (2.2 km) of walking on uneven and sloping grounds with over 170 steps. We recommend you wear comfortable hiking shoes and protect yourself from the sun. The tasting is included on your tour. This tour is limited to 34 participants.

Treasures & panorama of Dubrovnik
From the pier, meet your guide and start your stroll through the streets of this medieval town.
Along the way you will visit, among other places, the Franciscan Monastery whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites of the city. The Monastery houses also the oldest still working pharmacy in Europe and the third oldest pharmacy in the world founded in 1317. It is still active and still offers creams manufactured according to ancestral recipes.
After visiting the monastery, you will go to the Assumption Cathedral built in the 18th century on the ruins of a church dating from the 12th century destroyed by an earthquake in 1667. This one might surprise you by its simplicity and the clarity of its interior, but its treasure is among the richest in Europe, with a unique collection of relics in gold and silver.
You will continue with the Dominican Monastery, soberer than the previous one, and its museum with a fine collection of Renaissance paintings, including the triptych of N. Bozidarevic representing Dubrovnik before the earthquake or the table of Titian representing Sainte Madeleine and Saint Blaise.
Other fine buildings will be viewed from the outside, like the Sponza Palace notable for its columned courtyard with elaborate stone carvings, Church of Saint Blaise, Onofriou's Fountain, etc.
Then, you will go to the Dubrovnik cable car. A short ride will take you up to the top of Srd hill from where you can admire Dubrovnik Old town, Elaphite Islands and Lokrum.
Finally, you will get back to your ship.
- This tour is mainly done by foot on cobblestone streets with some steps. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and protect yourself from the sun. Appropriate clothing is recommended to enter religious sites: shoulders and knees must be covered. In case of religious office, the visit of the Cathedral will be cancelled. It is not permitted to take photos of the treasures. According to the period, some waiting time can be expected at the cable car.

Culinary traditions with Miloslavic family
During this tour, you will be immersed in the lively and nature-oriented daily life of the Miloslavic family. They open their doors and their hearts to share their way of life and their love for their land, and what it has to offer, with you.
The Miloslavic family is now composed of six persons. Pero and Marija, the parents, and their 4 daughters Nevia, Mara, Pere and Nika. Pero’s father was among the first in the civil parish to have the OPG label, which stands for “Obiteljsko poljoprivredno gospodarstvo” (literally translates to a family farm, and more specifically an agricultural business made up of members of the same family), and Pero inherited it. This tradition has continued, and our hosts have passed it on to their 4 daughters. Today, you will be part of the family.
Away from the habitual kitchens and regular restaurants, discover the local cuisine full of homemade olive oil, wines, seasonal vegetables, homemade prosciutto and pancetta.
With the help of the Miloslavic family, you will prepare savoury meals, full of heritage and tastes of the Dubrovnik region. In this unique cooking class, you will learn how to appreciate each of the ingredients to their fullest, how to treat them, and how to savour their essence. The menu depends as much on the availability of ingredients. You will have the opportunity to get know and appreciate all the flavours of this cuisine using all your senses, in the comfortable setting of the rural family home.
Their farming philosophy meets the needs of existing and future generations, while also ensuring profitability, environmental health, and social and economic equity.
At the end of your experience, you will get acquainted with the Dubrovnik region with the help of locals, who are not only passionate about what they do for living, but also just as passionate about the land where they live.
Finally, it will be time to head back to your ship.

Sea kayaking
From the pier, you will walk 10 minutes to join the kayak centre.
Your tour will allow you to combine shore-side and offshore visits. You will have the chance to paddle and swim across the exotic coastal scenery of the small islands.
After receiving your safety instructions, board your kayak and start your adventure towards hidden coves and secluded pebble beaches.

Porec and its Basilica
From the pier, board your coach and start your 45-minute scenic drive to Porec.
Once arriving, you will start your walking tour of the old town.
You will begin with the Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the historic centre of Porec. The group of religious monuments in Porec, where Christianity was established as early as the 4th century, constitutes the most complete surviving complex of its type. The basilica, atrium, baptistery and Episcopal palace are outstanding examples of religious architecture, while the basilica itself combines classical and Byzantine elements.
This complex was enrolled in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1997.

When you will reach Athens, you will make your first stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, a 19th-century reconstruction on Roman foundations, in which the first modern Olympic Games took place. This stadium is also known as the Kallimármaro which means “the beautiful marbled” because it is the only major stadium in the world built entirely of white marble. It was also restored to host some competitions during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Day 2 - Athens
After breakfast, your walking guided visit will be first focus on Anafiotika district.
This picturesque old quarter is located under the Acropolis. This very typical architecture looks like to the Cycladic islands, with narrow streets and white-washed houses with colorful shutters.
You will learn more about its history with your guide. And you will have the perfect opportunity to take the most beautiful photos, through the lens of a professional photograph at your disposal to give you tips and help you..
Later, you will walk until a local tavern in the Plaka district and you will enjoy a traditional Greek lunch followed by a short time at leisure in Plaka.
During the afternoon, you will visit the Acropolis Museum, which is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built in order to house every artifact found on the rock and at its foot, covering a large period of time from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. Nearly 4,000 objects are exhibited over an area of 14,000 square metres.
After the Museum visit, time at leisure to strool around the Museum area (about 1 hour). Then short drive back to your hotel (about 15 minutes).

Day 3 - Athens

Monastery of Saint Lucas & Arachova
From the pier, board your coach for the one hour and 30 mintute drive to the Monastery of Saint Lucas.
The historic walled monastery is one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art and is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in Greece. It was founded in the early 10th century by the hermit Saint Lucas, whose relics are kept in the monastery. The main shrine is the tomb of Saint Lucas, originally situated in the vault, but later placed at the juncture of the two churches, the church of Theotokos and the Catholic Church which is the oldest in the complex.
Continue your journey with the visit of Arachova village. Arachova is a mountain small village and its quaint houses are built up on the north slopes of Mount Parnassos, with 3,300 inhabitants, at 800 - 1,100m altitude. In 2000 B.C. Homer mentioned in the Iliad two famous generals who took part in the Trojan War Epistrophos and Schedias from the old towns of Anemoria and Kiparissos. These towns were situated around where Arachova stands today. Later, in about 334 B.C. Philip the Second King of Macedonia destroyed both towns and their populations dispersed over the hills until a new town, Arachova, was built. Today the 'jewel' of Parnassos Arachova remains vital because it keeps its traditions alive and the residents remain simple and hospitable. From the first moment, you will feel a different wind blowing up here, and understand why the locals work so hard to upkeep the areas natural beauty. This town is famous for its carpets and blankets woven by hand and for its wines and cheeses.
After a short walking tour and time to browse through the narrow streets with the numerous souvenir and local product shops, you will return to the ship.

Sacred site of Delphi
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 hour drive to the Archaeological Site of Delphi.
Once arriving, you will take the Sacred Way that was followed by ancient pilgrims and visitors to the site. The path begins at the southeast corner of the site and winds its way up the hillside, past ancient treasuries and monuments, to the temple of Apollo.
It is an imposing temple of the Doric order whose existence was woven through the turbulent history of the site and endured numerous incarnations. The remains that you can see date back to the 4th century B.C. The Temple of Apollo was first built around the 7th century B.C. by the two legendary architects Trophonios and Agamedes. The exterior was decorated with shields captured from the Persians at Plataea. This temple was also of the Doric order and had 6 columns at the front, and 15 columns at the flanks. Today, you can see one complete column of the facade and portions of five more columns. Also visible are the foundations of the outer colonnade and the interior sekos.
You will continue your walk and pass the spare ruins of the Senate of Delphi, followed be a pile of rocks, marking the site of the early Delphi Oracle which according to legend was guarded by the snake Python. For those who wish, the Theatre can be visited.
A few steps from the sanctuary of Apollo, the Delphi museum has exhibited for over a century, the objects found at the archaeological site. He is one of the four largest museums in Greece, with Athens and Olympia. Vases, bronzes, sculptures found in temples, offerings made to Apollo by the pilgrims, objects of gold and ivory found under the slabs of the Sacred Way can be admired in this museum.
You will then return to the port.

Hiking & rafting at Acheron River
After five minutes walk through the town of Parga, you will board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Gliki village.
This little village sits next to the picturesque Acheron River known as the mystical river Styx of Greek mythology believed to lead to the entrance of the underworld and Kingdom of Hades. According to tradition, Zeus was devastated when the Titans drunk from the water and then he condemned the river to remain eternally under the earth.
In this beautiful surrounding with rich vegetation and crystalline waters which comprise a unique natural landscape you will start a 45-minute guided walk and exploration through the banks of the river. In some parts of your walk there are lakes and water pits.
Returning back to the starting point, you will board the rafting boats in groups of 6 per boat and together with your boat instructor you will raft for approximately 7 minutes in the transparent waters of the river which flows through the forest slopes of the canyon and the Gliki gorge.
Then, you will enjoy refreshments with local snacks in one of the river side taverns before you board your coach and return to Parga.
- This tour involves approximately 45 minutes of walking on uneven paths with, sometimes, water up to the knees. The water level can be rise until upper thighs. This tour is not recommended for guests with any mobility challenges. Participants must be able to embark and disembark from a rafting boat. City of Arta & Archaeological Museum
From the pier, board your coach for a 1 ¼ -hour drive to Arta, region of Greece still largely untouched by tourism.
The modern town of Arta sits on the ancient site of Ambracia. An ancient Corinthian colony dating back to the 7th century B.C. which later became the capital of the Kingdom of Pyrrhus in about 295 B.C.
Arriving into Arta, who means “fortress”, you will see the famous stone bridge standing over the river Arachthos. The bridge dates back to the 17th century but it is built on the site of older bridges that go back even further to the time of Pyrrus. Legend has it that the bridge's builder, frustrated with each day’s work being ruined by the river, was advised by a bird that the problem could be solved by putting his wife in the foundations which he actually did.
You will enjoy the panoramic view from the bridge on the river and its surroundings before continuing to the Archaeological Museum of Arta, located just a short distance from the bridge and near the banks of Arachthos River.
This museum, fully renovated, houses the antiquities from the wider region of Arta and the exhibits cover a time span from the Palaeolithic to the Roman times. The collection includes funerary stelae and burial offerings from the cemeteries of ancient Ambracia finds from the ancient city of Ambracia, as well as from the "Koudounotrypa" cave, and several other sites in the region of Arta.
Arta is also famous for its Byzantine architecture and churches, the most beautiful and famous one being the church of Panagia Parigoritissa, dating from the 13th century. This church, crowned with towers and domes, is ornate with wall paintings inside dating back hundreds of years that you can discover during your visit.
Following your visit to the church take a stroll around the colourful pedestrian street of the town with its little shops and cafes before you board your coach again for your return drive to the port of Parga.

Ancient Nikopolis & Preveza
From the pier, board your coach for a 45-minute drive to Ancient Nikopolis. The city of victory was founded in 31 BC by Augustus, in honour of his victory over Antony and Cleopatra at the Battle of Actium.
Your first stop will be made at Nikopolis archaeological site. The town grew and flourished both in Roman times, which numbered about 30,000 residents but also later in Christian times. This archaeological site houses many monuments scattered over an area of about 600 ha (1500 acres). Among the most important monuments, you will admire Roman and especially Byzantine walls, a theatre, baths, aqueducts and parts of the old churches.
Then, you will visit the Nikopolis museum which contains collections of architectural parts and sculptures from the ancient city and offerings from the cemetery of Nikopolis.
Following your visit, you will board your coach for a short drive to the town of Preveza. During your walking tour around the picturesque small port, you will visit the old town streets, passing by the public market building. Built in 1939 to house the grocery and butchery shops of the city, the building houses today the Municipality’s Cultural Centre.
Then, you will walk to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Agios Charalampos (outside visit) before continuing passing by the Venetian Clock Tower. This building, built in 1752, is a typical example of the architecture of the Venetian domination. Its solar clock and the older temple contributed to the reputation of the town.

Walking on Ston walls & oyster tasting
From the pier, board your coach for a 1-hour scenic drive along the Adriatic Road toward the town of Ston.
Ston was built according to the plans approved by the Dubrovnik government in 1335 and amended in 1370 and is considered one of the best planned and best structured cities in Europe. The walls of Ston were a massive architecture and construction feat. Originally 7,000 metre long (22,965 ft.), they consist of several parts; the Ston city walls, the Mali Ston city walls and the Big wall with its three forts. Its forts and towers are strengthened by 10 round and 31 square flanking towers, as well as 6 semicircular bastions. It took almost four centuries to finish these complex defence walls, as the builders had to adapt to the rough terrain and advancements in warfare technology. The walls were last used for defence in the 19th century, and today they are a priceless monument of immense architectural and cultural value.
Once arriving at Ston’s walls, you will start your hiking passing distance of almost 900 meters over demanding terrain with more than 150 steps before joining your coach for a ride to Mali Ston, the 'oysters capital' of Croatia.
Upon arrival in Mali Ston, you will board a local boat which will take you to oyster and mussel beds. Your host will welcome you on board and introduce you with oyster & mussel farming in this area. You will have the opportunity to learn about the oyster & mussel production as well as to taste freshly prepared oysters & mussels including mussel buzara (mussels cooked with wine, garlic and olive oil).
Finally, re-board your coach for a 1-hour return ride back to Dubrovnik along the old historical road passing through the old villages of Dubrovacko Primorje.

Treasures & panorama of Dubrovnik
From the pier, meet your guide and start your stroll through the streets of this medieval town.
Along the way you will visit, among other places, the Franciscan Monastery whose cloister ranks among the most inspiring sites of the city. The Monastery houses also the oldest still working pharmacy in Europe and the third oldest pharmacy in the world founded in 1317. It is still active and still offers creams manufactured according to ancestral recipes.
After visiting the monastery, you will go to the Assumption Cathedral built in the 18th century on the ruins of a church dating from the 12th century destroyed by an earthquake in 1667. This one might surprise you by its simplicity and the clarity of its interior, but its treasure is among the richest in Europe, with a unique collection of relics in gold and silver.
You will continue with the Dominican Monastery, soberer than the previous one, and its museum with a fine collection of Renaissance paintings, including the triptych of N. Bozidarevic representing Dubrovnik before the earthquake or the table of Titian representing Sainte Madeleine and Saint Blaise.
Other fine buildings will be viewed from the outside, like the Sponza Palace notable for its columned courtyard with elaborate stone carvings, Church of Saint Blaise, Onofriou's Fountain, etc.
Then, you will go to the Dubrovnik cable car. A short ride will take you up to the top of Srd hill from where you can admire Dubrovnik Old town, Elaphite Islands and Lokrum.
Finally, you will get back to your ship.

During this tour, you will be immersed in the lively and nature-oriented daily life of the Miloslavic family. They open their doors and their hearts to share their way of life and their love for their land, and what it has to offer, with you.
The Miloslavic family is now composed of six persons. Pero and Marija, the parents, and their 4 daughters Nevia, Mara, Pere and Nika. Pero’s father was among the first in the civil parish to have the OPG label, which stands for “Obiteljsko poljoprivredno gospodarstvo” (literally translates to a family farm, and more specifically an agricultural business made up of members of the same family), and Pero inherited it. This tradition has continued, and our hosts have passed it on to their 4 daughters. Today, you will be part of the family.

After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local English-speaking representative. You will be taken by coach to the airport in time for check-in for the PONANT selected flight.
Your programme includes:
- Transfers by coach.
- Services of a local English-speaking assistant.
Your programme does not include:
- Personal expenses.
- Other services not mentioned in the programme.
- Tips for the driver and local guide.
To know your PONANT flight schedule, please contact your travel advisor; it is also indicated on your electronic ticket included in your travel documents.
In the event of schedule changes of PONANT’s selected flight, your programme will be adapted to ensure the most seamless and enriching experience. The content of your revised programme will be updated on the PONANT website, in My Ponant space and on the PONANT app. The final programme will also be sent to you along with your cruise documents.
